SOURCE: galant rear wheel hub

remove your rear wheel then remove the brake assembly. there are 4 bolts that hold the hub to the rear axel with anti lock brakes you will have a wire to remove from the hub. it may tak a large hammer and chisel to remove the hub. but it will come off. then reinstall (if there is any shims behind the hub they must be put back in in the same directions (these are alignment shims) some have some dont. tighten bolts and test drive the ca 5 miles or so. then retighten the lug bolts. and then again after 100 miles.
hope this helps 99116a8.jpg

SOURCE: service engine light on 2002 mitsubishi galant

it could be the spark plugs, at least that is what it was for mine, if you have over 50k miles without a spark plug change i highly suggest one, also a oil /transmission change would be great for your car too if you haven't done those reciently. I would also suggest using a higher grade gas, sometimes this fixes the trick too.
If you try all those and still experiencing hard transitions please let me know and i'll try a more indepth analysis on your car.
Thanks jyotsna.

Has it overheated lately?
My wife overheated our Galant and it just stopped working, it cranks but that's it.
I pulled the sparkplugs and found them wrapped in a gewey jelly like substance. Like an oil/antifreeze combo.
I am going to replace the entire motor for $1000 as taking it to the mechanics to theorize and practice may cost more.

Steerin wheel is locked and won't turn when engin is on

If the steering wheel is completely immovable, then something is jamming it. You'll need to pull the column covers and look under the dash.

If the steering wheel is very hard to turn, then your power steering is not working. Check the steering pump belt (could be broken) and check the steering fluid level.

A dashboard light came on with a picture of a pot with a drip and now the steering wheel is difficult to turn. what could the problem be. the car 2002 mitsubishi galant 4 cyclinder se

The light that has come on is indicating a low oil pressure. I don't believe the problem is related to your steering wheel. My recommendation is you check the oil in your engine to verify the level and correct if necessary. As for your power steering issue, again, check the level on the power steering resovoir, and correct if necessary. If the level is low for power steering fluid, top up and SLOWLY turn your wheel all the way from left to right several times. If that does not correct the problem, then I suspect a power steering pump.

I am curious to know, is that light that came on, the only one that illuminated?

you may have a problem with the clock spring ( this is the unit that connects the steering wheel to the air bag) if you remove the steering wheel and earth out the horn pin and it works there is a fair chance it is the clock spring.; go to the reckors and get a second hand clock spring but ask them the precautions to take as they are a delicate item and easy to break

1st Remove Battery cable from Battery because the only time the air bags will deploy is when the key is in the ignition. I have tilt steering and when I put the steering wheel in the up most position. I came right out. But now it seems to stick more lately.
