The problem is water getting into the boot switch and shorting out the contacts. A new boot switch is required which you can get from nissan for about £55. I have recently fitted one myself and its a very easy and quick job to do.

learn that RHD do not repair like LHD cars.

the hackers why seen on youtube for vast cars.
pulling the dash HVAC box ,blower and all. my guess heater core leaks/ some can fixed easy with new heater hoses.
looking careful for exact leak point can save 10 or more hours of labor. see this done wrong many a time. all a wasted of labor and parts and worse collateral damage.

Hi, Like you said the rubber/plastic door seals have worn to the extent water is coming into your vehicle. Recommend you take it to any body works shop, they will replace the seals with new should not prove to expensive. Please leave me feedback thanks, Malcolm Campbell.
Best bet is to join the nissan micra forum its free to join.And you witl find hep for all your problems in the future.Have you checked all fuses first ?
same has happened to mine, boot opening when driving. now it wont open, apparantly its the tailgate solinoid and the boot switch, this happen with water coming in, im trying to get mine sorted without having new parts from a scrappie
