check that the cam shaft is turning ( broken timing belt/chain will not allow position sensors to give spark). Check that the immobiliser is operational. have the fault codes read
All the time? Only hot? Only when first starts? Only when wet? Did it start after after buying cheap gas or adding gas from an old gas can? How long since last tune up?
I would suspect bad ign wire leaking high voltage or it is not getting to the spark plug OR a fouled plug. Sometimes you can hear the spark SNAPPING to ground or see it at night. Often you can get bad wires to show up by spraying them with a mist of water from an old spray bottle and uptting the car in gear with light acelleration. Make SURE to NOT stand in front of the car while somone is jazzing the gas!!!
Been a while since I have worked on a VW but most often it is plugs and wires.
Hope this helped, Ken C
Broken vaccume lines could also give you a skip and poor power in some situations.
This all depends on if its got coil over plug or sparkplug wires, whichever remove the coil or the sparkplug wire and then remove the sparkplug, this engine may have covers that cover the plugs, just remove the covers and make sure to label any wires you remove to get the covvers off.
no flashing light and rough shaking will be part of spark plug but also a very bad miss fire. I am going to guess that your engine is a 1.8t if so you have 4 coils that sit on top of your spark plugs that most likely are arcing you will need to figure out which coil is failing or you can save yourself the trouble and replace all 4 and the spark plugs. before you do that though check your wireing going to your coils look for broken wires or the ground that is next to the #1 coil that is the one closest to the front of the motor and you. hope that helps. that will be the start to fixing your issue also when you pull out the spark plug look down the hole first and make sure that there is not oil in the bottom of the hole if that is the case you will need a valve cover gasket as well. good luck hope that helps
twist and pull they are just metal covers over rubber as far as plugs go double platinum is what vw reccommends bosch is definitely the brand to with...
