SOURCE: How do you remove the radio from a 2005 Nissan Xterra?

the dash around the radio needs to be pulled off. Be carefull doing this so the plastic clips are not damaged. There may be screws as well, that you can see from the underside ( looking from the floor to the roof)

SOURCE: 2005 Nissan Xterra gas gauge reads empty when full of gas.

My car won't start.I put the key in the ignition, turn the key and nothing happens. It's not the chip in the key, I tried a new key. I usually have to wait about 5 min. then it starts up like nothing is wrong.

2006 Xterra. Low oil pressure gauge at idle to

inner timing cover oil gallery gaskets are more than likely your problem...you can make your own for 10 dollars or give nissan 500 for a new cover as they dont supply the gaskets....check the oil pan for gasket material...thats a sure sign they blew out but they may be gone and still holding together so its not always accurate...

Popping and grinding with extreme wheel turns

Hi

This sounds very much like a problem with your front wheel bearings.

The Xterra Wheel Bearings need to be re-greased at least every 30k miles, and more often if you often go through water deep enough to reach the hubs. When the water gets in the hubs it contaminates the grease and damage can be done to the bearings. This will create a grinding noise and in severe cases even damage to the axle spindle.

You will need to have this looked at by a mechanic to fully assess the damage. Cost will very much be dependant on the extent of this damage.

This link gives an idea of the cost for bearings on the Xterra but obviously this does not include labor to fit. As I say the overall cost is difficult to predict until the full extent of the damage is known.

Hope this helps. Thanks for using FixYa.

2005 Nissan Xterra gas gauge reads empty when full of gas.

Sending unit died. can be expencive to replace since most sending units are integral with the fuel pump now. lots of labor too. Better to use the trip odometer till you can afford a day without your car and a $600.00 +labor repair bill.

When to replace timing belt? what's the avg. cost?

I recommend 60-90K Cost depends on the dealerships labor but usually when your doing a timing belt, radiator hoses and fan belts are removed and should be replaced while your in there. Its about 3hrs, more if other things need to be replaced while in there. So you looking at $300+ for labor only
