In the surge tank on the drivers side of the engine compartment aft of the windshield washer fluid reservoir.
The line that separates the top and bottom halves of the tank, inside the tank is the cold fill line and should be just covered when the engine is cold. Never open this tank while hot, scalding fluid will shoot out and burn you severely!

SOURCE: where and how to change cabin filter chevy equinox

Hiya...the cabin air filter is located below the front passenger/windshield area.
It's only accessible by standing outside the Equinox with the hood open.
Here's how to do it...(before you pop open the hood)

1) Stand outside at the front-right door area.
2) Just below the front windshield area, pull up a few small black plastic clips that's on the black windshield wiper cowl area- a small flat screwdriver or a special clip-remover tool is handy.
3) Raise the hood up.
4) There may be a triangular-shaped hard foam sound damper at the left side nearby the hood hinge...pull it off if it allow you to work around it with ease.
5) Continue to find a few black plastic clips around the black windshield wiper cowl area.
6) Gently pull up the black windshield wiper cowl cover with care not to bend it too hard during removal.
7) You should see the cabin air filter inside that's held in place by a black rectangular box inside.
8) There's 2 black tabs that holds the cabin air filter in place.
9) Insert your finger or tool to pry the cabin air filter away from the tabs.
10) Remove old cabin air filter.

Remember to reinstall the clip parts back into place when you're finished.

SOURCE: Where is the transmission Fill plug on a 2005 chevy equinox?

There is no fill plug on transmission pans, you have to fill them from the
dipstick tube in the engine bay. Get a long funnel that will fit into the
dipstick tube hole, and then fill it that way. Make sure you turn the
vehicle on while filling it, and put it through all the gears, with your foot
on the brake. This will make sure your torque convertor is being properly
filled, along with the trans. Good luck.

2005 equinox blows cool air until engine has been running. then much later when heat is on heat begins to feel a [tad] lukewarm after then. what type or brand of coolant should be used in this vehicle/...

It sounds like your thermostat is going bad. However if you start noticing any liquid in your floorboard the heater core is on it's last leg. Check your manufacturer's specs before adding any anti-freeze. More than likely your Chevy requires only the use of DexCool antifreeze. It is very important to be sure that you do not ever mix brands of antifreeze if they require DexCool. Mixing any other coolant with DexCool will cause a chemical reaction causing the liquid to turn to gel. You can end up with internal corrosion of vital engine parts, engine lock up, and serious overheating as a result. As a general rule for engine safety and performance you should always check to make sure that you are adding the same color of coolant to what is already in the car. If it's green don't add orange. Before changing colors (types) of antifreeze in your vehicle, you will need to flush out your engine till it all runs out.

O6 chevy equinox no heat will cool but will not heat

Check your antifreeze level. If that is up where it should be then I would guess your thermostat is bad.
