A lot of thing's , has sensors , switches , a control module , relay's etc....
The roof opening panel is an electronically operated panel that can be opened or closed by pressing a switch located on the overhead console. It also has one-touch open, one-touch close, one-touch vent open and one-touch vent close features.

Roof Opening Panel The roof opening panel assembly uses an integrated motor and module to operate the roof opening panel. The roof opening panel motor and module are installed new as an assembly. The roof opening panel is an electronically operated glass panel that can be opened, closed or tilted by the roof opening panel switch. Actuating the switch in either a forward or rearward motion supplies a ground to the roof opening panel motor/module. The roof opening panel has one-touch open and one-touch close features that are activated when the switch is momentarily pressed to the double detent OPEN or CLOSE position. These functions are controlled by the roof opening panel motor/module.
The roof opening panel motor must be initialized whenever the roof opening panel motor has been removed from the roof opening panel system, the roof opening panel assembly has been removed from the vehicle, a new roof opening panel motor has been installed or a new roof opening panel assembly has been installed.

Plus the mechnical parts of it .

How do i manually close the sunroof of my 2007 e320

You have to remove the overhead control unit (front dome lamp assembly) to gain access to the sunroof motor(link below) You can then put an allen wrench/socket into the drive motor for the sunroof and turn to close. This works if the sunroof motor has failed. If the problem is the switch, you might get lucky by pointing the key at the IR pickup on the driver's door handle and holding the lock button. That should close all of the windows and the sunroof. Mercedes 211 overhead mirror removal

There's a TSB published by ford for this condition. It's caused by a binding shifter button.

  • KEY STUCK IN IGNITION / SHIFTER BINDING CONDITION
Publication Date: July 6, 2007
FORD: 2006-2007 Fusion LINCOLN: 2006 Zephyr MERCURY: 2006-2007 Milan
This article supersedes TSB 07-2-1 to update the Part List. ISSUE: Some 2006-2007 Fusion, Milan and 2006 Zephyr vehicles built before 9/4/2006 may exhibit a customer concern of the ignition key getting trapped or a shifter slider binding condition. Most of the key trapped conditions are caused due to a binding shifter button which does not allow the pawl to contact the park detect switch.
ACTION: Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE If the key will not release from the ignition cylinder lock follow the Key Trapped procedure. On vehicles with a hard-to-shift shift lever into park or slider bunching/binding then follow the Shifter Slider Binding procedure. Key Trapped:
  1. Actuate knob button 5-10 times, observe for binding or sticky condition.
  2. Replace knob assembly if the knob sticks following Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 307-05. NOTE: WHEN REPLACING THE SHIFT KNOB DO NOT REUSE THE SCREWS. REMOVE AND DISCARD THE SCREWS. INSTALL TWO NEW SCREWS AND TIGHTEN TO 18 LB-IN (2 N-m). DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN THE SCREWS OR DAMAGE MAY OCCUR.
Shifter Slider Binding:
  1. If shifter slider is bunched up or binding, replace bezel assembly following WSM, Section 307-05. NOTE: WHEN REPLACING THE BEZEL, CARE NEEDS TO BE TAKEN TO ENSURE THAT THE BRAKE SHIFT INTERLOCK OVERRIDE TAB IS PROPERLY ALIGNED INTO ITS GUIDE. REFER TO FIGURE 1.

My battery went dead after only 16,000 miles- I have the car for 2 years, 6 months. Is there a recall notice out on the charging system or battery used in the Milans. It's a 2007 Milan 6 cyl AWD model

no there is not a recall on your milan, only on the monterey for after market fuel filters. The fact of the matter is they just don't build them like they used to. So Its probably your alternator thats the number one probable cause.. hope this helps and god bless.

2007 Mercury Milan Premier V6 ac compressor clutch won't engage. Fuses and relays are ok. Pressure switch checks out ok. What could cause the problem?

you may need to top up the coolant,r112,r140or what ever the car is useing. if the car can'nt be topped up then you have a leak that needs to be fixed, usually the drier.
