You need to discharge the AC system and remove the evaporator to replace the expansion valve. No two way about it.

No need to remove the dash

Are you sure you have correct timing? its definetly a fule problem, if timing is good then turn your key to the on position and try to listin for the fule pump to prime. While the key is in on position go to fuel rail, there is a valve on fule rail called sharader valve. Get a small screw driver and press valve in to check if car has fule pressure. if pressure is present then it is incorrect timing or possible bad cam sensor.

SOURCE: 1996 Honda Accord Rough Idle Even After tune up

Perform a valve clearance inspection and adjust if necessary. Tight or sticking valves will cause a misfire or rough running concern. Note: Perform valve adjustment when the engine is stone cold. 4cyl: INT 0.26mm EXH: 0.30mm (V6 engine are hydraulic and no adjust necessary.) Also check for a sticking or stuck open EGR valve. For diagnostic purposes only: Remove the EGR valve. Place a business card over the EGR passage and bolt the EGR valve back on. This plugs the EGR ports and if the misfire goes away the EGR valve is partially stuck open and is defective.
Check for low fuel pressure. Check for low compression. Check cam timing. Check for a weak ignition coil. Also don't over look the possibility of worn or broken engine mounts which cause excessive engine movement and engine vibration. -hope this helps

How do I replace a broken valve cover bolt on a 96 honda accord?

remove cover again, drill small hole into bolt if it is broken off too close to get with vice grips, use ez out very casrefully.

place some sort of rags or towels to catch metal shavings, can also spay shave cream on top of rags or towels to help catch metal shavings.

these bolts are only ten mm so only take about 7 pounds of torque. tighten in criss coss fashion little by little evenly.

1996 honda accord won't start. drove 40 miles each way on friday and parked car .. first 40 miles was all stop and go traffice second 40 we took freeway all the way and just paid tolls, woke up sat...

There are several things that could cause this problem. First is when was the last time you replaced the fuel filter? Next thing you need to do is open your radiator cap to see if there is oil in your coolant and also pull your oil dipstick to see if there is any white stuff on the bottom of the dipstick. If either of these things are true then you have a blown head gasket. The last thing could be a bad coil or even engine control unit (ECU). Good luck.

My 1991 Honda Accord is dropping oil onto the hot cover in the front. Also, the service engine light soon comes on after driving about 10 to 15 minutes. What possibly can be wrong? I think the cover...

You have a bad valve cover gasket. If I remember correctly the spark plug wires go thru the valve cover? If that is true a loose valve cover will leak motor oil on the plug wires possibly causing the check engine/maint light. I would start with the valve cover and a tune up. That may solve all your issues.

Crank and start but wont stay on

bad ignition, air flow sensor that keeps leaning out the mix and it stalls, bad iac idle control motor, start with a good tune up.cap rotor, wires plugs air filter and clean the throttle body.some honda cars have bad egr valves and the intake manifold has to come apart because it is plugged up inside with carbon.

Firing sequence is off or plug wires are not connected completely. check the firing order, to the plugs and make sure all connections are on (you will have to push down on top of boot pretty hard to get a good connection)
