SOURCE: egr valve on a 2002 Saturn SL1

Take off air breather tube, you should see a cone shaped part, on top and at back of engine right by the gas pedal cable. Remove the 2 10mm bolts, and it should come right off.

SOURCE: The shifter/transmission on my manual 5 spd 1999 Saturn SL1

This just happen to me a few weeks ago. If you take out the center piece in the car you should be able to see that the actual shifter is no longer connected to the rod which goes into the transmission. It is an easy problem to fix, however it is not cheap. I was told that you have to buy a complete new kit($250.00) for the shifter, however my dad gave me a different solution. He took some wire, and made a spider web type thing to keep it connected. On my car it was a small round plastic piece that broke, but I cannot remember what it was actually called. This little piece is not available through Saturn by itself, only through a complete kit. Please ask questions if this is not clear enough. Thanks :)

SOURCE: where is the transmission filter located in a 2002

It is actually on the outside of the transmission on top parallel to the ground. It is toward the front of the car and is a large oil filter looking spin on filter.

There is no pan on an S-series car, simply a dipstick, external filter, and drain plug. Pretty much like changing the oil on your engine, actually easier!

1999 automatic saturn sl1 , hard shifting and surges . Replaced all of the motor mounts and that didnt help..

Not sure why you went after the mounts. Sounds like shift solenoids or something more serious with the transmission.

Removing gearbox

Here's your book info is below...
Most auto parts stores carry Haynes Manuals. You can order them from Haynes if needed. Or...often they are carried in your local library.

I have done Ford and Toyota clutches using these books. Clutch replacement is not hard, just time consuming...And easier if you have a lift.

Note: If like many vehicles, don't forget to replace the engine rear main seal while you have access with the fly wheel off.

You can call Haynes and ask specifically if the book covers the repair you are attempting. I have called them to get more specific wiring diagrams not always provided with the books. Very helpful in providing tech data... I have a Haynes manual for all my vehicles...makes maintenance and repair much easier than researching every I need to do something to my vehicles.

Best of luck finding the information you need...

Transmission shifting very hard

Unfortunatly my transmission does the same thing. I had it repaired for about $800 only to have the same thinig happen again about 4 months down the road. It seems that there are alot of horror stories about these saturn transmissions. My trans has been slamming for about 3 years now and it still works...per say. Id say either replace it or just drive it until it breaks.

I have a 1993 saturn manual transmission and when

Time to find a much lower mileage used tranny and have it put in. Replace the clutch components with new stuff while you are at it.Note that the transmissions 91-99 will most likely swap but you must know whether you have an SL1 or SL2 and the donor car must be the same..

Saturn SL1 Rear Bumper repair & replace cost?

Call junkyards, look on ebay or craigslist, and find out. You are obviously going to need a used part. Having located a used part, find a mechanic to find out how much the labor will be.

There is a rod from my clutch on my 2002 saturn SL1 hanging loose, now what?

Hi:
Without seeing your car, the most likely problem is that either your pressure plate has failed, or your clutch slave cylinder has failed.
If it is the pressure plate, your transmission needs removed to fix that. and you should install a new clutch disk as well, If it is the slave cylinder, what should have had the rod attached to, it can be swapped or repaired , no transmission removal needed
