SOURCE: x-type jaguar automatic (gear box fault)

I have a 2002 X type (2 litre. done 44000 miles), dash showed gear box problem, (red circle light up). I pulled out and turned the engine off. 5 minutes later turned the engine on. The engine running but the car would not drive either in drive or reverse. Turned the engine off again and on the car driving but not much power. The care is taken to the Jag. dealer and told is misfiring + some gear box faults. Suggesting to change some coils and see (cost about £200+). also possible need to change the gear box costing about £2500+. Please advice. Shall I go ahead with the repair? Should I part exchange.

SOURCE: changing oil in jaguar 2002 s type?

jag-you-are would prefer that you take your car to one of their service centers!! probably has an internal filter element that needs special equip. to access and change out.lot of high end cars have that type of filter now. my brothers mercedes mid-1990s doesn't even have a tranny dip-stick! need special tools to check level! hard to be a 'shade-tree' mechanic anymore!
good luck!

SOURCE: need to replace catalytic converter on Jag 2002 X

What you can do is ask for a direct fit converter.I don`t know if you can get them around where you are or if they are available for your vehicle. When I need to replace a converter I will get a direct fit one and it looks just like the one I am replacing. Also they are cheaper than the factory ones and I have not had any problems with them.Hope this helps.Good luck.

I need to replace the catalytic converter ( bank 1) on my 2002 Jaguar S Type. Need to know where cylinder #1 is located. Do I need a left or right part?

Bank One and Bank Two are usually a standard layout. Look at the engine and stand with the belts and pulleys nearest to you. You will probably be standing in front of the vehicle looking towards the rear of the car. Bank One is the Left side of the engine. Bank Two is the Right side of the engine. Cylinder One will be the cylinder on the Left (Bank One), and nearest to you. Please use the attached image for reference. The front of the engine is also the front of the vehicle.

Where are the sensor situated

I don't particularily about your car. But they are on the exhaust system. One before the catalytic converter and one after. Some cars have four of them.

Where are the catalytic converters located

There are only two catalytic converters. They are of a high efficiency type and as such, they are tucked on each side of the engine directly bolted to the exhaust manifolds. You won't see them easily from underneath the car as you would on most vehicles. Item #1 and #11 in the diagram below are the catalytic converters.

2001jaguar 3.0 stype code p0420 and p0430

You may need a shop to look at this.
Code 420 is saying the catalytic converter is not working well on bank one and code 430 is the same thing for bank two.
There is an O2 sensor in front and behind each cat. The computer uses the readings from the front and back sensors to judge the performance of the catalytic converters.
Since it would be very rare for both cats to fail at the same time, chances are the problem is a vac leak or injector problems with the engine. I would say something wrong is happening before the exhaust gets to the catalytic converters.

Where is the rear "b2 s2" oxygen sensor located in a Jaguar 2003 xtype 2.5liter car? There are 4 oxygen sensors -- one in the front catalytic converter and one next to it by or in the exhaust manifold and...

Oxygen sensors are always numbered like this:
Bank 1 sensor 1
Bank 2 sensor 1
Bank 1 sensor 2
Bank 2 sensor 2

Some manufacturers use a kind of shorthand that reads different, but means the same thing:
Sensor 1/1 or O2s 1/1
Sensor 2/1 or O2s 2/1
Sensor 1/2 or O2s 1/2
Sensor 2/2 or O2s 2/2

Bank 1 is always the side of the engine where cylinder number 1 is located and, of coarse, Bank 2 is the opposite side.
On a 4 cylinder engine, there is only 1 bank and it is always referred to as Bank 1.

Sensor 1 is always the upstream sensor (The one located BEFORE the catalytic converter)
Sensor 2 is always the downstream sensor (the one that is located AFTER the catalytic converter.

Hope helps (remember to rate this).

My 2002 Jag s-type hesitate when I drive it, my catalytic converter has gone bad, but is that why? Or do I have other issues. My check engine lights on.

Go to autozone or advance auto parts they will scan to see why your engine light is on.Usually free of charge. Write down the codes they give you then let us know what they are. We test we dont guess.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say your catalytic convertor is damaged. Do not drive this car. A damaged convertor can ruin your engine or catch on fire.
