SOURCE: Tail lights don't work on 1998 Chevy Silverado.

check the wiring from the tailights back to the fuse panel, it sounds like an open connection. if i recall correctly check under the dash on the drivers side near the fuse panel for a bunch of wires in a bundle and look carefully for a wire or two that are cut/shorted/or seperated, you can also check under the drivers side kick panel by the hood release.

We have no running tail lights we have blinkers, hazards and brake lights on our 1993 dodge Dakota, we are told its a ground wire, we need to run ground wire and need a picture with instructions please we...

blinkers and stop lights are on the same circuit-tail lamps are on another circuit-i'm going to start from zero so please be patient-do the front park lamps come on with the headlamps-have you checked the fuses-have you checked at the rear lamps with a volt meter-take the rear bulb out and try in front if fronts working-as far as the ground at the rear there should be a screw in the frame where the ground should be and there should be a ground wire coming out of the harness in the area where the harness from the front plugs into the turn signal harnesses-otherwise-you can driill a small hole in the frame and one in the truck bed underneath and run a wire between them-the bed is not grounded by being bolted onto the truck-cheers Denny

Keyless Remote Module for 1998 Chevy Malibu

Removal Procedure
Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.
Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Open the rear compartment lid.
Remove the remote door lock receiver (2). The receiver (2) is located between the rear package shelf and the rear package shelf cover, to the right of the center access hole. Compress the 4 tabs and slide the receiver (1) down through the access hole.
Disconnect the electrical connector (1).

I have a 98 chevy malibu. the tail lights, running lights and instrument lights do not work but head lights do

The good news is that all of these problems stem from the same source: the 15A PARK LPS fuse in the underhood wiring harness junction block. When you set the turn/headlamp/wiper switch to PARK, the park lamp relay in the junction block closes and power is applied to the front marker lamps and the park filament of the front park/turn lamps as well as the tail filaments of the rear tail/stop lamps.

As for the instrument lights, that same PARK LPS fuse applies power to the same turn/headlamp/wiper switch that, when set to PARK or HEAD applies power to the variable panel dimmer switch which lets you set the illumination level. Switch output is applied to the lamp dimmer module and module output passes through the 10A INST LAMPS fuse in the right I/P wiring harness junction block to the instrument lamps

I have a 94 Chevy C1500 and the right side brake light and blinker are not working. The tail light and reverse light work though, and the right front blinker works but it blinks twice as fast as it...

It could be a bad multifunction (turn signal) switch. The way that switch works, it is possible that it can turn on the front blinker and not the rear one. It also cancels the brake circuit so the turn signal can work with the brake pedal depressed.

However, a more likely cause would be a break in the YELLOW/BROWN wire at the rear of the truck. It is common for the connector to get corroded at the left rear frame area where the bed harness connects to the vehicle harness. If you have trailer connections spliced into the wiring harness, these connections are also prime candidates for corrosion. I would look there first. Inspect these harnesses thoroughly all the way up and into the tail light assembly.

If the wires under the back of the truck look good, then I would check for power coming out of the turn signal switch. The wire at the turn signal switch is plain YELLOW (with no brown tracer). It is Pin (M) on the turn signal switch connector. The front signal is a LIGHT BLUE wire at the turn signal switch Pin (H). If you probe these with a test lamp, they should both work the same except the yellow wire will be hot with the brake pedal depressed and the switch NOT in the left turn position. If there is no power at the switch connector, replace the switch.

Only left tail light does not work. left break light works fine. All other lights work. New bulb, good fuse, and new connector that the bulb plugs into. I can ground the middle wire going into the...

poor ground, check the wire harness, this is the one that comes from front of vehicle to the rear and plugs into the wires that go to the rear lights. trace the wire coming out of the light itself and eventually you will see that it comes to a connector that attaches to the wiring harness.

How to wire box truck for tail and brake lights?

The wire harness for the back lights comes in 2 pieces. Undo the center bolt at the fuse panel on the engine side of the firewall and pull the left side wire harness off the fuse box. That is the one that goes to the back of the truck. There is one wire in it that you will have to cut because it doesn't go all the way back. The second connector is under the box near the rear bumper on the driver's side. It runs to the lights from the first harness. It is prone to corrosion and may be your problem. If it is just cut it out and splice the wires together, using connectors and heat shrink tube. Then tape over the tubing and you should be good. Chevy tail lights are also prone to chaffing inside the box at the tail light so if you are haveing trouble check for that. Just tape them up and repostion them so they don't chafe. Also check the ground wires at the back. They very often rot off or stop making a good connection from years of road crud. The light sockets are available at any auto parts store if you need them. Hope this helps.

NEED TO REEPROGRAMING A REMOTE CONTROL FOR A MALIBU 1998 HOW '?

1. Make sure ignition is in the OFF position.
2. Locate the Programming Connector in the trunk (center of rear shelf). It is a plastic connector with
two wires leading up to it. The connector is not plugged into anything. You may have to pull back
trim to access the connector.

3. The programming connector should have two terminals. Connect both terminals with a suitable
jumper wire. The Keyless Entry Module will lock then unlock all the door lock motors once. Make
sure the terminals remain connected throughout the programming procedure.

4. Press and hold the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the transmitter simultaneously for at least 15
seconds or until the vehicle automatically locks and unlocks the door locks. Your new remote has
been accepted and all existing remote codes have been erased.

5. Repeat the previous step for each transmitter to be programmed. Do not remove jumper wire in
between programming of transmitters.

6. Remove the jumper wire from the Keyless Programming Connector.
