2003 oldsmobile alero turns but will not start

Sounds like the computer is dead, or not getting a signal from the crank sensor.
Can you check the crank sensor with a meter, or use a scanner to check data input to the computer ?

I need to replace the driver side half shaft on a 2003 olds alero.

Remove wheel, brake caliper bracket, rotor, tie brake caliper up out of the way as to not put tension on the hose, remove hub bearing & assembly, yank c.v shaft out (just held in by clips) pop new shaft in securely, reassemble hub, brakes & wheel.

Where is the transmission dip stick on a 2003 olds alero

It doesn't have one. You have to remove a plug by the passengers side cv shaft and fill the trans with the engine running until fluid runs from the hole.

Where is the crank shaft sensor located on a 2001 oldsmobile alero

on the 3.4 liter engine, it's behind the harmonic balancer--you have to remove the crankshaft pulley/balancer to see it.

if you have the 2.4 liter, it's just above the oil filter:
