SOURCE: 1996 dodge intrepid 3.3 transmission wont shiftout of first gear

two issues here. this may be a low fluid issue. i would check the level of the fluid first. the next issue could be a blown shift solenoid. these are located inside of the transmission pan.also, check the filter as well.(transmission filter could be clogged)

SOURCE: 1996 ignition switch-what wires to check power on

ignition switch may be worn or a loose exciter wire [to starter] thats the small terminal on starter motor you can bridge it to the posative [power] on the starter it should start!
if it does start just work back from there to ignition look for broken or loosse connection
if that all is ok it will need ignition switch

SOURCE: Dodge Intrepid 1996 Water Pump Replacement Needs

a timing belt. the water pump uses it to turn it and you got to take it off to change the pump anyway so you might as well get a new one.also the hydralic timing belt tensioner should be replaced at the same time just to be sure.you will need anti freeze of course as well

My 96 intrepid has new wire lines, different bcm, pcm, tcm and cluster and the gauges still don't work. Put in a ignition switch also.

IF SLAPPING THE DASH WORKS, THE PROBLEM IS MOST LIKLEY A BURNED WIRE CONNECTION IN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRING, YOU WILL HAVE TO REMOVE THE CLUSTER AND DISSAMBLE TO REPAIR BROKEN WIRES IN THE PANEL HARNESS CONNECTOR.

96 dodge intrepid brake lamps do not turn off. already replaced brake lamp switch. lights stay on even after removing fuse. please help

Hi,
Hmmm... sounds like a power( live line ) melted the insulation and fused together w/ the brake line, thus it powers up your brake light.

Check your rear brake wire harness leading to the front connection main harness., if the harness are covered w/ plastic insulation, cut the insulation and look for a wire that melted and fused together.
If you found the wire, seperate it and put some insulator tape to prevent power line shorting.
The power line usually colored RED.
Hope that helps!

REMOVED ALARM -STARTER WON'T ENGAGE-NO POWER TO ENGINE

When you removed the alarm unit you cut the line to the Starter kill switch that was installed. Remove the starter kill switch which is most likely located under the dash spliced into the ignition wiring harness.

2001 intrepid lights flicker when driving headlights, dash, interior ect.

It sounds like your main power harness is not connected tightly. Check the wireing and connections from the battery to the starter and then from the starter to the fuse box. Also, the ignition switch on the 2001 intrepids can be faulty enough to cause intermittent power supply problems so its a good idea to run a continuity check on the wires going from your ingnition switch to the fuse box, while performing this type of test, wiggle each wire and if you get a flutter in any one of them then it could mean that the ignition switch connection point for that particular wire is loose or dammaged and in this case simply replacing the switch fixes the problem.

Gauges and wipers on intrepid stopped working

Check your fuse panel for blown fuses if they are fine then you have a wiring fault.

My 1996 dodge intrepid, while driving, will stop, just like turning the key off. all gauges go haywire. when the vehicle stands for about an hour it will restart fine.

This may be a wiring issue since electrical are affected other than the engine. Inspect the wiring harness first for loose connections or wires that may have open insulator or bad wires that needs replacing.
