SOURCE: fuel delivery problem - 2000 Kia Sportage 2WD -

If the pump is running but not putting out any fuel the strainer in the tank could be clogged causing it not to pick up fuel. Also check the fuel pressure regulator and make sure it is working correctly.

SOURCE: burnt ground wire on fuel pump

Burnt ground wire can be caused by loose ground fitting (not screwed in tight to the frame or body). Ground wire too small or ground wire connected to an anti-theft alarm system which use small wire, 10 gauge wire should be used on fuel pump ground.
If you have a lot of miles on your car, use a 5-40 synthetic oil, this will help oil comsumption.

No power to fuel pump on 2000 kia sportage

The only way is to trace the wiring to hunt down that short. Just ck the wiring every few feet until u narrow it down to see where your losing your ignition power. Good luck

I changed the fuel pump relay still dnt wanna start now im bout to change the whole fusebox harness

Did you check for voltage at the relay socket before replacing the relay ? Most relays have four or five pins , two should have battery voltage , one goes to the fuel pump an the last one is a ground supply from the PCM - powertrain control module - engine computer if you know what that is . If you look on the bottom of the relay it should have some numbers 85,86 , 30,87 ! 30 an 87 are the fuel pump side . 30 is battery voltage for the pump ! 85 is battery voltage an 86 is ground from PCM . VEHICLE RELAYS Operation Diagnosis Before replacing wiring harness test ! Check out these videos... Fuel Pump Electrical Circuits Description and Operation

Kia sportage cranks but seldom starts??

Have you checked the fuel pump relay to see if it is sending power to the pump ? The computer grounds the relay when the computer "sees" oil pressure or engine RPM.

Electrical problem with fuel pump

disconnect the pump by the tank and put power directly to the wires to check it. You should hear it whining. If you do. the pump works. next check the pressure at the engine, you may have a plugged filter. if you find the wires from the front to back of the car has no power after checking for power on all components, ( the relay socket should have power on 2 sockets when the key is on) make sure this is so. If its not you need to make sure you get power on terminal marked 30 on the relay and either 85 or 86 (one will be ground the other power) if all that checks out you have a wire broken leading from the relay to the fuel tank.
