Yes it is in one of two places. The first is look under the hood find the blower motor on the left side standing infront of the van.look under the blower motor to the right and down it should be there.if not look near the center/rear engin compartment,to see if it is there. It is a white ceramic part about 2/3 inches long with twqo wires on it.

318 engine with no spark to coil or spark plugs. how do i fix this

William, your car uses a ballast resistor that causes what you describe. This is usually a ceramic white, rectangular piece, mounted on the firewall.
The voltage to the coil has to be dropped to 8 volts, or so. Chrysler handles that with a ballast resistor and it fails.
To test, you can wire across the resistor and see if you have spark.
My recollection is one side is for the coil and one side for the wipers or something like that.

This is a common problem.

Ballast resistor

Ballast resistors were used to reduce voltage across the contact points after start so the points didn't 'burn' so quickly. As there are no points in your engine, there is no ballast resistor.

Keep burning up coils on a 1990 Dodge Ram Van 2500 with a 318 motor.

there should be a white ballast resistor in the circuit to cut the amperage back on the coil.
Check or replace ballast resistor sometimes they was mounted on firewall next to the ignition module either a 2 prong or 4 prong white ballast resistor.

Help please i have a 1987 dodge ram pick up that died on me on the hyway i find now there is no spark from comming out of the coil i ran a positive wire direct from the battery to the Pos. Side of the coil...

Check the ballast resistor mounted on the fire wall. It's white about 3 inches long with one screw in the middle. Use a test light and check to see if you are getting fire across both terminals. If not replace it. Fire comes from the ignition through the starter relay to the ballast resistor and then the coil. Hope this will help you.
