I am looking to replace a ac pulley bearing on a 2002 townand country 3.8L. Is this a pressed bearing. Will i need to yank the compressor?

Yes, you can as long as the pulley diagram is the same for the engines with no AC. There will most likely be a diagram on the front of the engine or in your owners manual showing the belt diagram for both cars with AC and without AC. Just make sure to buy a different belt that will fit it now. Hope this helps. Good luck!

SOURCE: What size belt do you need to bypass the a/c

You have to purchase an air conditioner compressor delete kit. Any belt you try to put on will not work duse to the routing. The kit comes with a bracket an idler pulley and a new belt with all nessessary hardware to install they run about $100.00

replace whole the a/c system? more than the whole van is worth. to replace the compressor est about 7-800 dollars

disconnect the power wire to the ac compressor clutch
that will isolate the compressor if it has seized bit still allow the pulley to turn

-Replace new one or remove it and use shorter belt.

Seized A/C compressor
The cause of this is that the roller bearing that the AC compressor pulley turns on is frozen up, the bearing can be replaced but you will need to buy the pulley assembly to get the bearing and you will need a special puller to remove the pressed on pulley. As far as finding a proper belt size to bypass the compressor that is nearly impossible to do, you may get the measurements right but in most cases the belt size you need will not be available, When the factory builds a car or truck with "AC Delete" they install a bypass pulley and the same belt is used for both with and without AC. The cost to replace the bearing is low, and that would be the by far the easiest thing to do here. You can buy the AC tool you need online, just google the year and make.

some cars dont need a bypass pulley just remove the ac compressor and get a belt for non ac some cars you cant do this because the belt routing is different with an idler pulley go to pepboys or autozone and ask them to print out the belt routing for both if they cant do it go to a gm dealer and ask hope this helps

My 2002 Vue is making an "airplane" noise in the engine. What is this and how do you fix it?
Hello mb.
When this type of noise occurs it is often a bearing on one of the pulleys the drive belt turns.
It could be an alternator, an AC compressor bearing, an idler pulley bearing or a tensioner pulley bearing.
You will need to remove the drive belt and rotate each one by hand (take the ignition key out, just for safety reasons)
Feel for play and roughness in the bearings and replace the one that is causing the noise.

Another noise to check on is the power steering system.
If the fluid is low it can allow air to enter the fluid and mix in to create a whining noise. Check the level and add if necessary.
Look for a leak if it is low.

Air Conditioning
Be carefule of hot parts and rotating/moving belts and pulleys.

If its a whine, most likely the bearings on the idler pulley or the bearings on the ac compressor clutch.
-To trouble shoot with engine running and ac on spray wd40 on bearing area of clutch then wait a few seconds to see if sound goes away. If not then try bearing area(behind bolt of pulley) of idler. This will work as temporay fix, but ultimatly you must replace bad bearing.Do NOT spray on belt or pulley surface.

If its a squeal could be the belt is loose and needs to be replaced or dressed.
-Belt dressing can be spray directly on belt while engine is running and ac is on.

Ac compressor. is making a ticking noice
This is normal, the compressor is spun by the fan belt, and when everything equalizes the pulley stops moving. This repeats over and over again.
