I have a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500, with the factory security system (no remote start) and the horn honks continuously no matter if the truck is running or not.

So I bought a new Horn Relay thinking that was probably the problem and replaced it, but it still didn't fix it. I have pulled the Security System Relay in the Fuse box under the hood behind the battery and reinstalled the horn relay and it still honks continuously. I have checked the horn buttons on the steering wheel airbag pad and they seem to be working but there is no way to tell because when i reinstall the horn relay the horn goes off continuously.

SOURCE: 1992 Dodge Ram 50: Horn honks all by itself.

Check the horn actuating contact at the centre of the steering wheel. It may be damaged or mis-aligned.
Also check the carbon contact that runs on the slip ring under the steering wheel (associated with steering wheel horn actuate switch) It may be damaged or mis-aligned.

If none of the above are faulty, you should look for a possible intermittent short to ground on the horn actuation control wiring.

SOURCE: 2003 dodge caravan airbag good

if you check the wire that comes from the horn button to the relay for voltage when the horn is pushed and have voltage then you have a bad relay,if not then you probably have bad contacts in the horn pad area or even the clock spring itself.

1999 Dodge Ram 1500. How to make the horn stop going off constantly.

It is a known issue. Lots of ideas, mine is a to call out an auto-electrician with a pro-grade scan tool computer. When the battery is disconnected, and the key is in the ignition and the doors are closed, the horn shouldn't go off. Make sure you leave the windows open in case it self locks. After that, you need to do a security reset. There are 3 ways here.

Battery in Dodge Ram 1500 went dead. After charging, horn won't stop honking. As soon as battery cables are reconnected, horn starts honking continuously.

First I'm not a Dodge mechanic.
* Check your warranty. Call for setrvice.
*** following is for information only.***
* horn switch is stuck. See if you can pry it back up.
* For multiple horn switches (both sides of steering wheel) check both switches for "mushy operation" or stuck in one position.
* Horn RELAY not working (all makes); https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76xR7QGPF1M
* The drained battery is probably due to a short in the electrical system
* Pull the "Horn" fuse to stop the horn (or pull out the horn wire to the horn itself. Leave it disconnected until you can confirm the bad switch or a short in another part of the system.

Horn honks when unlocking doors.

If your vehicle is equipped with a factory keyless entry system and you have the owner's manual, there should be a section in the manual describing how to change your options with your system. But if you have an aftermarket system, which I am thinking this the case, you will have to manually go into your dash under your steering wheel and cut the wire going to your horn from the security system. Once you have accessed your wiring underneath your steering wheel, there is a main harness with a bunch of wires going to the steering wheel. In this harness you will find a DARK GREEN/VIOLET small gauge wire and you should see another wire tapping into it probably coming from the security module. Just cut it off but leave the DARK GREEN/VIOLET untouched and this will eliminate the horn honks.

When I lock the door on my 99 dodge durango with the keyless remote the horn won't honk. But if I push the panic button the horn does honk. How can I get the horn to honk when I lock the doors?

Look in your manuel, there are steps to change the Key less remote setting to customize it the way you'ld like the car Key less system to work.
Good luck and hope this helps, if your still having problem. Just drive the Dodge dealer and ask the Service adviser to help you out, he or she would be more then happy to reprogram the key less system for you.
