Check for fuel pressure. Commonly fuel pumps are changed when the inertial switch may have tripped. Google ford inertia switch. It is a resettable safety device for the fuel system.

IF YOU HAVE FUEL FILTER WITH FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY YOU HAVE TO REPLACE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY REMOVE THE REAR SEAT BENCH IN ORDER TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY. NOW IF YOU HAVE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR AND FUEL FILTER AS ONE UNIT.BECAUSE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR BUILT TO THE FUEL FILTER.TO REPLACE FUEL FILTER, FIRST DEPRESSURIZE THE FUEL SYSTEM BY REMOVING THE FUEL PUMP RELAY LOCATED ON THE COWL.THEN CRANK ENGINE UNTIL IT DIES LACK OF FUEL.THE CRANK ENGINE OVER FEW TIMES TO MAKE SURE ALL FUEL OUT THE FUEL LINES.LOCATION OF FUEL FILTER UNDER THE VECHICLE MOUNTED TO THE LEFT SIDE OF THE CHASIS.

2001 BMW 530, car turns over fine but sometimes just cranks and cranks without the engine starting. Battery turns engine over great but wont start. Next day starts great all day, then acts up again and...

sounds like a fuel pump or filter problem. replace filter first its cheaper than a fuel pump.my fuel filter on my 01 530 was under the driver side half way back along the bottom rail of the car.i had to remove the aero plastic with a plug puller that gave me acess to it.try and replace that first. if it doesn work its prob.fuel pump.

Engine turns over, but will not start.

Check the fuel pump for pressure by removing the send line from the fuel filter and ranking the car. Place the line in an empty 2 liter soda bottle and have a friend crank the engine a couple of times to see if the pump sends fuel. If not, replace the fuel pump an replace the filter since you will have a line removed already.

Vehicle won't get feul to crank. we replaced fuel

Of course you will need to check to see if the fuel pump is actually pumping, or damaged. I suggest that you remove the fuel filler cap, then have someone turn the ignition switch on while you listen through the fuel fill inlet to see if you hear the pump turn on for a few seconds then off. If you're hearing nothing and have no fuel, either the vehicle is not telling the pump to turn on, (verify voltage at the pump electric connection) or the pump is bad.

Generally, when you turn the ignition on, you should hear the pump for a second or two as it builds pressure, after replacing the fuel filter, you may need to do this several times to get pressure to the injectors, and to do that, just cycle the switch to on, then off, in 4 or 5 second intervals. The pump if working, will build pressure eventually allowing the vehicle to start. No need to crank, until you have fuel pressure, Just to "ON", then "OFF" several times.

I hope that you took the time to put some fuel injector cleaner (1/2 filled w/Gumout) into your new fuel filter when replacing it, it's a cheap fuel injector/fuel system cleaning method I've used for years when replacing fuel filters. It can cause a sputter or two initially, but does a good job.

good luck

1999 dodge ram 2500 5.9 cummins diesel.won't start.turns over thats it. put in a new intake fuel pump. still won't start.got fuel to the injectors sometimes.

Check the fuel pressure at the filter. Odds are the lift pump, located below the filter, is toast. Continual cranking of the motor with a bad LP wil cause the injector pump to heat up and burn out. Replace the LP and fuel filter. Bleed the system by cracking the inlet to the injector pump and bumping the enigine over so the LP will run. Once you have fuel at the injector pump, crack injectors 1,3,and 4. Crank the motor for no more 6 or 7 seconds at a time until it turns over. Give the pump time to cool for a couple of mintues between cranks. This process is easier with two people, one to crank and the other to watch for fuel and tighten the injectors once it starts. If the injector pump is fried at this point from cranking with no fuel, the motor should idle, but will stumble all over itself when the throttle is applied.
