Note the diagram, at least check the fuse. Check trouble codes, related to cruise control. to check codes yourself, at least, you need an obd2 code reader that will read po codes as well as manufacturer specific codes. It is worth the investment, in my opinion. Make sure the brake lites work.
There is a small sensor on the bottom of the master cylinder. Wiring may be loose or the sensor bad, they are well known to go bad and cause the cruise control to stop working outright.
It is a brake pressure sensor and is designed to shut the cruise of when braking. I believe it is normally closed and allows continuity through the system and when the breaks are applied the pressure opens the circuit. If the sensor is defective it often stays in an open state not allowing the cruise to come on/initialize.
Best thing to start looking at is your cruise control relays and fuses.
You should have a qualified shop check it , computer involved in the control of it . Plus electronic throttle control . Having a capable scan tool hooked up to check data , inputs from the cruise control switches etc...
Speed Control
The speed control system consists of the following components:
The speed control system is controlled by the PCM. The speed control system is designed to maintain a selected vehicle speed between 48 and 200 km/h (30 and 124 mph). The speed control system is controlled by the steering wheel mounted switches (ON, OFF, SET+, SET-, CANCEL, and RESUME), and the brake pedal. The steering wheel mounted switches are hardwired to the PCM.
The speed control functions include:
is the air bag light on ?
