My key became detached from its pod and then I lost the pod. I was given a 2001 key pod and wondering if it can be used to reprogram my car. also I was told that the key can be detached and my original key put on. sure would appreciate an answer to both of my questions
SOURCE: What oil type do I use...2003 vw beetle?
if U live in a cold climate use 5W-30W, if u live in a moderate climate with hot summers use 10W-30W, any name brand meets your engines requirements. Do not use any oils heavier than these two, it can cause engine bearing damage.

SOURCE: Have a 2000 VW Beetle. The alarm won't turn off!
My 2000 Beetle does same thing (although not all the time). Just found an internet post that suggests there is a problem in the door lock sensor. I assume you are using a regular key - not
the keyless entry - like I am. He also said that you can disable the alarm (also disables the
keyless entry - which doesn't bother me) by leaving the front door AND the rear trunk open and
starting the car up. Seems to work so far. I will get the door lock sensor replaced and turn the
alarm system back on (not sure how yet), and let you know if that stops the problem.
SOURCE: something draining battery on 2000 VW Beetle Turbo
If you are sure you have a key off battery drain, what you need to do is connect an ammeter to the negative side of the battery(disconnect the negative battery cable and connect one side of the ammeter to the battery terminal and one side to the and one side to the battery cable) note the reading and start pulling fuses one at a time making sure to put them back in their proper slot when the reading an the ammeter goes down to normal the short will be on the circuit of the fuse you have pulled if any part of these instructions is too difficult have the problem checked by a dealer
