Safely, take your car on a highway or street ( dry pavement ) with no cars or other persons around. Stop the car, proceed to approx. 20 Km/h. Then push the gas pedal down close to the floor, if the car bucks and chucks change the fuel filter and retest. If the problem is still present, I recommend the fuel pump. Have it checked first.

Replace sparkplugs and COPs (ignition coil over plugs). Add fuel injection cleaner. Hopefully this helps

When I let off the gas it jerks

What is the vehicle specifically? Jerking when letting off during hard or mild acceleration could indicate a problem with an engine or trans mount. More severe cases its indicative of a loose, worn, damaged drive shaft or pinion. If front wheel drive car, lean toward engine mounts. But to clarify again, we need details of your situation to help more effectively.

Where is the radiator cap located on the 2001 focus?

A 2001 Ford Focus does not have an outlet on the radiator for a cap. It has a de-gas type cooling system and what would traditionally be called a "radiator cap" has become the de-gas bottle cap. It is located on the de-gas bottle just in front of the passenger strut tower and behind the passenger headlamp assembly. Do not open this cap when the engine is hot as you may be burned by the coolant.

Torque wrench settings for ford focus thermostat housing on 2001 1.8l petrol engine ( 3 x bolts)

There is a set spec, but for the DIY mechanic,,
Using a !/4 " drive, with the correct long socket, apply a FIRM effort on the wrench, but obviously not too much, as to sheer the studs. Always use a NEW gasket on all mating surfaces.
