SOURCE: Service engine code indicates EGR valve.

You could have a restriction in the egr ports. remove the valve. Plug the holes, start engine. 1 hole will be blowing out exhaust, the other will have large vacuum.

False engine code on startup

Hi,

please take your car to your local autozone and allow them to run a free diagnostic test on the car to see if the same error comes up on their end. If so, then the error is real and they can advise you on the next steps to take to overcome it.

Thank you.

2010 Nissan versa code flashes - -- - --

Couple things to check. Most commonly that light is from a loose gas cap. Try taking it off and putting back on. Then to clear the code try the following:
key in, wait 3 seconds, press accelerator 5 times, wait 7 seconds, hold accelerator for 10 seconds

Try it a few times and see if that clears it.

Next check air filter make sure it's clean, replace if needed then use above method to clear light

Hopefully that works if not you'll need an OBD2 scanner to get the code ...it's likely something in EGR, a sensor.

I have a 2007 Chevy equinox LT and the engine light just keeps coming back on, is there a certain fuse I can unplug that controls the Service engine light on the dash,

There is not a fuse but you have two options

1. Get the codes, figure out what is causing those codes, and repair that problem. Then clear the codes and you should be fine until the next problem.

2. Live with the check engine light being on all the time. I will suggest to periodically (once or twice a year) check to see if any additional codes have popped up. This will make you aware of any potential problems that could turn into major headaches if left unchecked.

2001 jeep grand cherokee...only when vehicle is climbing a hill and downshifts the check engine light comes on and when I scan it, error code p0304 comes up...it's happened twice now and both times I got...

that code is for a misfire cyl #4 , may not be noticable as engine revving at change down , as a first step i'd try a fuel addative , get one that covers the catalytic convertor as well as the injectors, valves cylinders etc. take for a longish run (50-100) miles at a highish speed to get the engine to a good operating temperature ,keep me posted if you wish , don't forget to clear the code before you try addative

My check engine and check fuel cap light keep coming on after i changed the gas cap twice and reset the light it came back on what could this be. I drive a 06 lincoln navigator

You need to diagnose any codes you get
& smoke test the evap system, to find a
problem

Seldom does throwing on parts with a name similar
to a code work

Codes have nothing to do with installing parts

Clearing codes, clears all data needed to diagnose
the failed system & the evap system only runs every few
days,so you done as far as codes helping

2006 Ford Taurus Charging error message and Battery light

What error message are you receiving? If you are talking about your check engine light (CEL) then you will need to clear the codes for it to go away, or it must be driven through a series of specific events for the computer to clear itself, just take it down to your local auto store and have them scan and clear codes. At 14.5v you should not get the battery light, you may want to check your wiring to your ECM. With your old alternator running at 16v I would say it is possible something was damaged. I know many manufacturers do not protect the computer from spikes from alternators, I have seen this twice in the field, and actually had personal experience as well. This will require much more knowledge about your vehicle and electricity to understand what pins to test and what you should be looking for.

How to turn off check engine light on a 1997 dodge neon

You will require an error code reading machine, Which can be bought from car auto stores at low prices, You only need a cheap one to read the current error codes if you are sure everything has been fixed then clear error codes saved onto car system, However investigate each error code so you don't keep resetting the light when its coming on due to a fault with the engine.
