Sounds like the dual mass flywheel has failed. They are not cheap and will need a garage or competent DIY mechanic to remove the trans and change it. To have a garage do it you are looking at 5 to 600 GBP

SOURCE: My Peugeot 206 has a rattle

Sound like pre-ignition problem. pre-ignition is caused by running too low an octan fuel in the engine. The way octane works is simply the lower the number the faster the burn. If the fuel burns before the piston gets to the proper position in the cylinder it can cause what is call in the industry a ping. The remedy is to use a highert slower buning octane fuel or change the ignition timing. Mind you some engines with higher compression may not like the lower octane fuel even after adjusting the timing.

SOURCE: i have whine noise from gear box in 2nd gear 3rd

being a renault, the n/s drive shaft holds the oil in box, it splits, replace then try oil some times they do thousands of miles others not, 5th gear over hears and braeks teeth off, then very noisey. if getting a box there is a tag on top, silver, near the diff, this has to be matched to other gearbox as so many different boxes.

SOURCE: my toyota corolla nze 2002 has a rattling sound in the gear box

SInce any noise from within the engine/gear box cannot be taken lightly, it is important that you will need a good look from a service shop. If you have been carrying out the scheduled service in accordance with Toyota timings, there will not be an issue. You could check out if the noise is external, otherwise get you car to the authorised Toyota centre for an estimate. This will be better than trying out/ stipping and then waiting for spares. I hope my advise is helpful. good day

SOURCE: I own a peugeot 307

Hi!

I own a Peugeot 307 SW 1,6 hdi 2004 which I bought a month and a half ago. It all started with an increasing rattle and sometimes "singing" noise from what i presumed was the gearbox (it`s a manual) and perhaps a bearing problem. At the same time (a week after i bought it) I noticed a small oil leak from beneath the car. After a short examination at the dealer`s we found that there actually was a leak from the gearbox. I got it sorted out and refilled as much as 1,8 l of gear oil (which had leaked out). After that the car works fine, except from a tiny rattle/ singing from the gearbox, especially in combination with gear shifting. I am now concerned that the whole gearbox is going to break down. In case it does, I hope it will happen before 22nd of February (my warranty runs out by then). Glad to hear if you find a solution to your problem, it may have some similarities to mine. PS I`m from Norway, but this or similar problems are not being discussed on Norwegian websites or forums. DS

2005 Peugeot 307 HDI makes a high pitched whining noise only when the AC is on. It is not affected by acceleration or gear changes, and remains on when idling, until the engine is switched off.

The bearings in the electric clutch are either going bad or it has collected dirt/debris inside of it. Grab a can of WD40 with the spray straw and aim the tip of the straw into the gap on the A/C drive pulley (there's one part that spins and the centre part that is static) Apply a liberal burst of WD40 and then start the engine and listen for the noise. Fingers crossed the noise will dissipate completely (*this may only be a temporary fix)

Would anybody have any ideas as to why I am having intermittent gear box jamming can't get into 1st, 3rd or 5th on my Peugeot 307 2006?

You most likely have two problems. 1. The throw out bearing is probably bad, and 2. This has caused some gear shearing within the gear box. Best fix is to have the gear box removed, cleaned, check for chipped, cracked gear teeth, and replace with good gears. Also, check the synchronizer , make sure it is in good working order.

How to fix an electrical circuit fault on peugeot 307

Test charging circuit (usually for free at parts store). A battery getting drained can cause much of this. With car sitting still you could try removing fuses one at a time to see if there is an unusual draw.
