The problem could be in the PowerTrain Control Module malfunctioning or with the coil pack.
If your car has the coil on plug pack or the coil near plug pack, testing/troubleshooting is the same.
If your car is a European manufactured model, you'll need EOBD fault reader; If is American manufactured auto, an OBD-II fault reader will be needed.
In any event, with any auto / DIY project, it always helps to obtain either a hard-copy or digital version of your car's repair manual.
There is a YouTube link I am providing that will give you a brief tutorial what coils are and how to troubleshoot them...it is not vehicle year, make, and model specific- but it will help understand what coils are; how to troubleshoot them, etc.
Best wishes on your project.

Toyota funcargo failing to start

Hi Dan
cranks or does not crank fast,??? the starter motor spins the crank shaft fast, 300rpm in fact and must first.
or it cannot be started , my Wangler 6speed ,M/T push starts and gravity starts too. but no the A/T box fitted Funcargo
1999 to 2005 not one in USA at all
one answer fails to crank, battery dead or A/T not in park or neutral.
2nd answer, cranks fast but will not start.
  • spark dead.
  • fueling dead or bad fuel. wrong fuel class, diesel in to petrol ?
  • fueling too much flooding , crank with wide open throttle WOT.
  • engine bad, cam belt slipped or snapped at 100km and did.

wiki facts, not told. you, you have real Japan (JDM) car?
The Toyota Yaris Verso is a mini MPV produced by Toyota using the Yaris nameplate from August 1999 to October 2005. In Japan, it is known as the Toyota FunCargo (Japanese: ??????????, Hepburn: Toyota Fank?go). It is built on the same NBC platform as the XP10 series Yaris/Vitz/Echo. The FunCargo/Yaris Verso was replaced in Japan and Europe by the Ractis and Verso-S, respectively

My 2009 1kr Toyota Yaris is cranking but not start. It doesn't have spark and it also close the injectors. What could be the caused and how can I get it fixed?

the EFI works just like that, if ECU sees no spark it cuts fuel fully./
to end crash and burn as seen on TV and by laws here USA
My 2009 1kr Toyota Yaris we check all fuses first (a test)
then we scan the PCM using a scan tool. eg: omg CKP sensor or CMP sensor is dead ,. if seen.
have a shop fix this or buy the tools and learn how.

1.5L I4 , engine.
how man miles
buy it used and dead??>???????????????????????
chain drive cams, so I guess they didn;t scream for help just before it died right (chain thrashing/)
this engine has 4 COP coils, are all 4 dead? the classic test?
or just 1, all 4 must spark , not JUST 1, see my drift?
if all are dead and fuses all good
the scan tool tells you why,
P03xx errors. 1 for cmp or 1 for ckp deathh
ckp crank sensor wires fell off or got heat by road hazards.
CMP is on cam end. not lose.
