I would think any 2 door GM car of similar or near same year would be the same. Possibly even from a 4 door. Very likely they may all use the same part to keep costs down. You'd just have to check after removing one.

There is a tool for that J-37089 . Or you may just sight it by placing the balancer on slightly on and make sure it doesn't touch the fins.

If the transmission has a TCC (torque converter clutch), then the TCC solenoid could be bad. Disconnect the square four wire connector on the side of the transmission. If the problem goes away during the test drive, then the solenoid is bad and must be replaced.

First try giggling shifter or put in neutral. Let me know if security light is flashing.

It's the gas cap tightly in place? Did you overfill it? Can you see any sigh of leakage?

Some times when we overfill our gas tank, the spilled gas gets into cracks or holes in the body of the vehicle and takes a while to evaporate.

If the smell is still strong after one hour, take it to the shop to have it checked for leaks.

i have a 94 and it did the same thing,i had two problems, a bad battery cable, acid had gotten inside the cable and rotted the wire,it looked fine on the outside,second i cleaned all the ground contacts,battery to engine and engine to body and any other ground wire i could find,not sure these will help but worth a try.
