Based on your limited info, I will surmise that this transmission is not mounted and has been sitting around- I will also surmise that you are either talking about the super T-10 or 2nd gen. superT-10 4-speed manual tranny.
Predicated that the aforementioned is accurate, I will guess that the gear oil over time leaked out and the synchronizers, gears, main-shaft, or other internal part(s) have seized up.
You need to open it up and see what is or is not happening internally- but please, do not use a hammer or any other device to hit the transmission levers or transmission body- you'll crack the casting.
Testimonial: "Thank you it has been setting up a long time i will take the cover off and look thanks again"
Hello Paul,
I totally concur with the answer given first by JOHN....
These (Borg Warner) are magnificent transmissions
to work on... a certain elegance & beauty you can only
appreciate by PROPERLY GETTING inside and
carefully going over each surface...
Or conversely trying to negotiate the gears into an
IRON-BOX that predated the your Borg Warner style...
but on your "HAMMER" remarks... I think your
tranny is expensive & rare enough
to warrant a serious professional care...
Hammers have NO PLACE...
Only pullers & presses.
AUTOZONE has offered (I the past... perhaps still)
FREE tool loans..
So if you ever feel like using vise grips, pliers or HAMMERS
again... bonk yourself on the forehead (I'm just saying).
Pretty please...
It is very POSSIBLE you only have two gears engaged at the same time... (select fingers & shift forks are precision machines & deserve RESPECT.
