159, (USA?) must be V6 or V8 it has 2 banks. first google hit Possible causes
- Faulty Rear Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 2 - Rear Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 2 harness is open or shorted - Rear Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 2 circuit poor electrical connection - Inappropriate fuel pressure - Faulty fuel injectors - Intake air leaks may be faulty - Exhaust gas leaks
let me condense this. 1: the right bank rear 02 sensors is reading wrong, note I did not say it was bad. dig? 2: this means the CAT on that side, is UNHAPPY.
unhappy can be , as it said air leaks anywhere near the front or rear of Bank 2 CAT. unhappy 2, is the engine fuel controls are totally out of control way rich or lean, out of control; unhappy3, gross misfire, or all the above at once.
the ECU(pcm) at no time ever KNOW what is wrong, it only can flag bad inputs. or tests that fail , tests are called (USA,OBD2 SAE) called Monitors. do you have a full can tool? or just a near useless codereader. ?
A four cyl engine only has one bank. So in your case bank one sensor one is in front of the catalytic converter, and sensor two is after the cat. The sensor can cost from $25 to $85 dollars depending on which one and your location. Keep in mind the code 420 can be caused by other factors than the O2 sensors.
It should be alright for a bit. It will not cause damage. Your gas mileage may drop a bit. The oxygen sensor is there for the computer to adjust fuel requirements for the engine, called "fuel trim"-more precise measurement of the gas required to run at optimum.
These codes, po 138 bank 1 sensor 2 shorted to voltage and code po158 means bank 2 sensor two shorted to voltage. these are the two rear oxygen sensors in the exhaust system. there two up frt and two in the rear, check the wiring on the two rear sensors, make sure that the wiring is not cut or stuck between metal. if the wiring is good then replace both rear sensors, when you get them ask for the left and right after the cat sensors. or bk1 s2 and bk2s2. after replacing them reset the computer. go to an auto parts sotre or if you have a code reader you can do it. hope this helps good day.

P0137 O2 Sensor Bank 1, Sensor 2 Voltage Low P2096 Down Stream Fuel System Bank 1, Sensor 2 Lean
There are 3 possible engines in your vehicle, a 2.4L 4-cyl, a 2.7L V-6, and a 3.0L V-6. If your car has a 4-cyl then there is only one downstream O2 sensor. This is where you need to start the diagnosis for code P0137. While it would be nice to assume that the sensor is faulty, the sensor wiring between sensor and PCM could be the problem as well. That said, you are looking for a DOWNSTREAM OXYGEN SENSOR. I strongly advise that the replacement be OEM compatable. Avoid Universal Replacement types that use **** connectors to make them work. Good Luck!
