SOURCE: trouble pulling 4.3 4x4 1997 blazer motor

when I did mine, I had to remove radiator, undo exhaust manifolds from motor, and of course, remove hood. Those 3 things should allow enough room to remove that motor. Of course you'll have a few extras to remove, air cleaner box, air duct, etc, maybe undo steering wheel shaft even. It's been a couple of years since i've did it, but I belive I did have to remove the steering shaft.

SOURCE: knocking and pinging noise

You might have a blown head gasket. The milky oil is an indication of water getting into it, which would point toward your head gasket. You should have a compression test done.

Bad oil pump knock

ionMr. Hugo. what to what you do have is the viscosity of your engine oil. Most probably is either long mileage used engine oil and due to that oil mud built up inside the engine, in the oil pan and most likely close to the oil pressure pump filter reducing the suction and that is why you do have cold lifter knocking,as the engine oil that time is thicker and when it gets hot become thinner and lifters stopped knocking. My persona advise do flush the old engine oil using ( RESTORE MOTOR CLEANER ) pour it into the engine old oil, start the engine in idle and few times reving it for 40 minutes. Then drain it and renew the engine oil with new and recommended engine oil for your engine,by renewing the oil filter as well. Also in the new engine oil put also (RESTORE FRICTION REDUCER ) additive and run the engine. For next oil change please do it every 5000 km ( 3000 miles)

Sound like a lifter knocking took off vaule cover all were ok not too tight not too lose just had head gasket replaced never knocked before that any other ideas top of motor is apart heads are off too

Your problem could be a lifter that's either pumping up or leaking down which wouldn't be evident when you check the rocker arms for play with the engine off. You can use oil deflector clips and a mechanic's stethescope to run the engine with the valve cover removed and isolate the lifter in question. If you had a bad head gasket and had coolant leaking into the oil, it's also possible that you're mistaking the sound of a bad rod bearing for a lifter noise. Hopefully it is just a bad lifter.

Top engine knock when first start engine. And knocking when 3/4 quart low oil. [email protected] e-mail

It sounds like a weak lifter. When the oil is down 1/2 quart, add 1/2 of dextron ll instead of oil. This will help fill the lifter so it won't collapse again. Also look down the hole when you take of the oil cap and make sure it isn't filled with engine sludge. If you see some, get it cleaned out by a garage.

Lifter stuck& knocking in top of motor

Pour in some engine cleaner and run for 4-5 min, this should free up the lifter. Drain the oil and install new filter and oil. You may have to do this 2-3 times over the next month just to clean all the gunk out.

Does 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 have hydraulic lifters? I posted a question a few days ago regarding engine loud ticking which sounds like lifter noise. It doesn't have that deep sounding knock. I went to...

I would not believe any thing some parts store loser told you. Theres not a V8 built that doesnt have hydraulic lifters, unless its some fancy racin engine. It has hydraulic lifters, but unless you dont change your oil every 5k miles and/or use some cheap oil, there should be no problems. You should have a real mechanic look at it, and verify that you have good oil pressure. If it does, I would change the oil and use some MOBIL 1 and drive it, the oil will clean the lifters somewhat. If the eng has low oil pressure, that will need to be addressed.

Knocking noise from valve lifters , car was low on oil replaced oil will it correct itself

These engines were overhead cam.If you did put the oil back in as you said and the noise went away,no initial problem. The noise from the lifters, if its still there, is a ongoing problem.Maybe just an adjustment of the lifters needs to be done.Hope this helps
