Tilt steering will move out and in but will not tilt down help

Sorry, not a big car guy. The tilt steering button will allow the steering wheel to extend and retract but it will not lower or raise the steering wheel. IE: I can move the steering wheel towards me and away from me but not lower or raise it.

Again I go back to the "not a car guy". Sorry, yes it is operated by a electric motor. Thanks for your help and patience.

SOURCE: steering wheel moves up and down too far.

the bolts that secure the tilt joint inside the column have come loose, wish I had a dime for everyone of these I have fixed! you must tear the column apart to fix this problem, it is best if you remove it from the car and put it in a large vise.

You need to remove the steering wheel all the way down to the directional switch to gain access to tighten up the tilt housing set screws

No brake lights when tilt steering is moved down. rear brake lights work with tilt steering up all the way! what is most likely source of this problem?

Broken wire in steering column in area that bends. Suggest just leaving tilt up all the time. Unless you or someone you know is mechanically inclined and very patient. If that is the case disassemble and slice brake.

Telescopic Steering wheel won't move down or up

Yes it would be perfectly ok to disegauge the auto switch to keep it from moving again. It needs a tilt motor replaced . not a easy job.
