Latch of trunk won't open.. lots of clicking noise.

The rapid clicking noise is all I get from the hatch when I push any of the door-open buttons (key fob, front door, back hatch). Very frustrating. My husband has pushed down on hatch while I hit release, we have been lucky that sometimes it opens but can't guarantee when it will..

Had the same exact trouble. Changed the relay #36. Check the owners manual pages that show where all of the fuses/relays are. The fuse box for this relay is in the trunk area so I had to crawl in cuz the trunk wouldn't open. Good uck...hope this helps

Before it stops working at all, check the solenoid that operates the lock for good connection and ground. If that's OK you will need to change it.

Hatchback won't lock on saab 9-3

I had the very same problem with my 2002 Saab 9-3 after I manually moved the trunk latch to the locked position "out of curiosity..." Then I noticed there is a handle you can pull to release latch opening it up! Very simple remedy... It is a glow in the dark green plastic handle hanging down when the trunk/hatch is open dead center, just in slightly behind latch... Gently pull handle until you hear and see the latch click into the open position...Let me know how You make out. BTW: Toyota Camry has the same set up,same color as well...lol Good Luck!

Trunk won't open

Lower the back seat and crawl into the trunk and see what the latch is doing when you activate the key fob. the trunk lid will have to be open to enable any repairs. Also an emergency release cable is probably visible (yellow handle) inside the trunk and will Open the trunk lid.

Liftgate wont open, have to use the key, but if I press the key to close the rear lift gate it will close it.

can you hear the latch release when you try to open? if no clicking noise is heard then most likely a bad latch assembly. also check the rear door control module to see if smells burnt, if it does it won't send open signal. the module is located behind the plastic shroud on the left of the rear hatch.

'91 LS400, trunk will not open. key will not turn, electric latch switch clicks but won't open. valet lock in open position. Tried 1) disconnect battery, reconnect battery, use switch, push down on...

If you hear the sound of the electric latch switch, then it's working but stuck somehow. Just put the key in the switch and turn it to the right and then pull up the trunk or ask someone to help you. it will open. I tried it today and it opened with me. It was stuck from inside by some kind of a broken plastic pieces. Just removed it and now it's working fine. good luck

The trunk release (both on the door and on the key fob) stopped releasing the trunk lock on my 2002 Saab. The only way to open the trunk is through the emergency release pull inside the trunk. Is there a...

If the fuse is okay, check to see that the latch is not bound in some way, and that it is properly lubricated. A dry latch sometimes will not release.

Back hatch door closed on strap of backpack-now can't open door

Try pressing down on the trunk /hatch and at the same time turn the key to try and open it. It might take a lot of downware pressure to finally get it to come open.
