1997 acura cl 2.2 vteck engine runs then dies loses power to the spark plugs then runs stays running for hours

Hello. It seems your car's TCS Traction Control System is malfunctioning; causing the torque converter to stay 'engaged' to the engine. This will stop the engine from running when your car is in any drive gear. I don't know what your car's electrical problem is. Good luck and keep me informed; if you want to.

have u checked ur timing chain/belt? or even the crankshaft sensor? The crank sensor (if bad or broke) will cut out the spark to ur plugs. hope this helps

Remove the spark plugs. Block the number 1 cylinder hole with your hand(LHside of engine) . Rotate the engine by hand/wrench. As soon as you feel air coming out of the hole rotate the engine until you feel it to start sucking on your hand. Look at the position of the rotor(remove the distributor cap). This is the number 1 plug lead position. Moving clock wise connect cylinders 1-3-4-2 in that order.

Is it a two stroke machine , do you mix your own fuel.

If so over dosing on the oil component will cause your problem, check for the right mix levels and follow them.

Is the choke going full back to zero ?

Are you running the right type pf plug for that engine, some run hot some dont

Is the engine running smooth or lumpy.

For a four stroke engine

Your engine may either be running very rich or there is wear on the bores causing oil to get to the electrode.

You can obtain a spark plug extender which takes the plug out of the direct line of fire

Try the WD-40 spray in intake of throttle body with air intake hose off, to see if it will kick at all, even for a second or 2. We need to confirm whether your losing fuel or spark when it dies. Ignition & fuel, can cause similar symptoms in this case.

replace the O2 sensors . Some cars have 2. At the intake and out take manifolds. they are spark plug shaped components.

I have a 49cc cateye mini bike it starts idles fina dn every thing but when you ride it it goes fine i can reach around 55 almost 60 with the stock engine but it seems to quit on my after about 15 mabey a little less sometimes and then will not start for about another half hour
