with the key off turn to run position pump the gas pedal all the way to the floor quickly 3 times then turn off wait a sec then start the car, that should reset your maintenance light. if it uses the honda reset. set odo to trip odometer A turn off the key, hold the reset button and turn the key to the run position, wait till the odo stops flashing then turn key off.
If your smelling wires that is a sign of a poor ground or wires touching somthing like exhaust.could be the fusible link. Where is the spark you are seeing? And what do you mean the starter and alternator look good? They have to be tested !
there have been problems with that trans. ther is a extended warranty period for that trans. DO NOT let someone other than a saturn dealer attempt to repair that trans. consult saturn dealer for warranty details.
Disconnect the battery and reconnect.
