I have a 1992 Turbo Subaru and when it goes around 23 miles or more on a hot day it just shuts down. This is without air on. What causes this?

Possable air leak at the petrol feed to engine ie corrode out pipe as could be drawing air from tank throw sender float in the tank.this seams more apparent when your journy involves uphills.

Why do i have low power on the subaru forester 2003 when its hot?

There is an air sensor on your air filter intake. I would first suggest having this checked for proper function. There are other sensors that can also be checked. Your problem does not sound mechanical

Sidebar: I have always used full-synthetic oil for turbo-equipped automobiles.

My 92 tempo gl smokes like crazy when i first start it and some times runs rouhg for the first mile then clears up and then drives fine???

The valve stem seals are probably shot, if it is blue smoke-oil burning. What happens is when you shut the car off, oil slips down past the bad seals and pools around the valve seat. Soon as car is started, that pooled oil goes into the cylinder. When you shut the engine off, oil under the valve cover will do the same thing again-it will pool around the valves because of the bad stem seals. A repair manual can tell you how to replace the seals without pulling the head off. An air compressor is necessary to keep pressure in the cylinder, so the valve won't fall down into the cylinder.

1992 subaru legacy 2.2 turbo rough idle fixes

Hi doesnt sound like anything major as long as it doesnt smoke bad or knock from the engine, it sounds like a decent service would help, try replacing the air filter, fuel filter, give it a decent oil change ( i use castrol magnetec in my part of the world), give the idle air control valve a good clean with mass airflow cleaner or similar. If thats dirty it may fix your problem when cleaned. The hot idle should be approx 500rpm and cold should be approx 1000rpm hope this helps

What causes my car to shut down due to hot outdoor temperatures? 1992 Dodge Spirit ES

Could be several things: if the computer is not receiving enough cooling air, it can shutdown to self protect. Another possibility, is the condition called "Vapor lock", where the engine does not receive liquid fuel because of the heat causing it to vaporize, specially if the fuel regulator has problems. Another could be the ignition coil failing when overly hot. ]without more info, it is impossible to know.

Have 1992 capri non turbo when it gets hot it acks like it floods out and shuts down then you have to wait a couple minutes with the gas pedal to the floor before it will restart replaced the o2 sencer but...

This may be electrical. The ignition control modules commonly get heat sensitive on the capris (its happened to me twice), causing car to shut down at hot temps. Replace the igniter at the same time, bet this will fix it. Igniter is inside the distributer, module is on the outside of the dist..good luck...Chris

Ok so my engine is making a ticking sound in the far back what is it?

My guess is that it's a lifter. It's best to talk with a dealership mechanic about the best course of action with your specific vehicle. Usually a engine will last a very long time with a lifter tick. And don't forget to always check for recalls on all the cars you own. Here is a couple I found for your call. In this case it has nothing to do with your ticking problem but for future reference its always a good idea to make sure it's not part of the problem.
Auto Recall Date:MAR 23, 1994 Vehicle Component: POWER TRAIN:MANUAL TRANSMISSION Estimated Vehicles Affected:31295 1992 Subaru Legacy Defect Summary:WHEN THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN CONTINUOUSLY UNDER EXTREMELY COLD TEMPERATURES (-22 DEGREES F.) AND HIGH HUMIDITY WEATHER CONDITIONS, THE TRANSMISSION BREATHING (AIR) VENT CAN BE BLOCKED DUE TO MOISTURE FREEZING AT THE OIL LEVEL GAUGE. IF THIS OCCURS, PRESSURE INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION CASE WILL INCREASE AND PUSH OUT THE REAR OIL SEAL, CAUSING TRANSMISSION OIL LEAKAGE. THE LACK OF LUBRICATION CAN BURN THE INTERNAL COMPONENTS OF THE TRANSMISSION, CAUSE THE TRANSMISSION TO SEIZE AND THE VEHICLE TO COME TO A SUDDEN STOP. Defect Consequence:SUDDEN STOPS WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING CAN CAUSE VEHICLE OCCUPANTS TO BE THROWN AROUND THE VEHICLE AND CAUSE LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL WHICH CAN RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT. Remedy:DEALERS WILL MODIFY THE OIL GAUGE PIPE AND MODIFY THE OIL LEVEL GAUGE (DIPSTICK) OR REPLACE IT, DEPENDING ON THE TYPE OF DIPSTICK IN THE VEHICLE. Notes:SUBARU OF AMERICA, INC. Auto Recall Date:APR 01, 1992 Vehicle Component: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY Estimated Vehicles Affected:9500 1992 Subaru Legacy Defect Summary:A MISALIGNMENT OF THE REAR SEAT CUSHION LATCHING BRACKET REINFORCEMENT PLATE TO THE FLOOR REQUIRED A MACHINE TAP TO CLEAR THE OPENING FOR A MOUNTING BOLT. THE TOP OF THE FUEL TANK MAY HAVE BEEN PUNCTURED WHEN THE TAP WAS USED. Defect Consequence:THE PUNCTURE IN THE TOP OF THE FUEL TANK COULD CAUSE FUELTO LEAK, WHICH COULD RESULT IN A VEHICLE FIRE WHEN LEAKS OCCUR NEAR A SOURCE OFIGNITION. Remedy:INSPECT THE FUEL TANKS; REPLACE THEM IF THEY ARE PUNCTURED. Notes:SUBARU OF AMERICA, INC.

Sounds like the Coolant is not full and has a air bubble. It is very important to have the system filled complete. That would be the first step.Good luck and have a great day.

1996 impreza turbo over heats when engine turns off replaced thermostat already

Some / Most turbo vehicles have some sort of auxiliary or main ELECTRIC water pump that will circulate coolant around in the engine a little while whilst the electric cooling fans go to work passing air over the radiator.

Reason for this (among other things) is the oil and gets so dang hot in these motors trying to keep the turbo bearing(s) from seizing, and the oil wicks away a tremendous amount of heat during this time.

Maybe the circuitry to cool the engine down nominally after you shut the motor off is afoul?
