Start with the obvious first. Take the battery and have it load tested. A volt meter will not check it well enough. Have the alternator tested. I'd bet one of them is bad. A hard impact could have damaged an already failing component.

Keep looking, sounds like battery connection or cables. Take them all apart and cleaned really well? Also check the smaller cable from battery to fuse/relay block. Maybe something loose under the fuse block?
There could be other grounds, too. They used a lot of them in various places, but sounds like you found the major ones-should be 2 or 3 on the engine itself.
You may have to use a multi-meter and do the voltage drop tests. YouTube has videos on that.

Why does my hyundai 2005 sonatas die when i turn headlights on

Without testing the battery an charging systems an checking for code's all anyone could do is make a guess as to what would cause this . How much do you know about automotive electrical system testing ? Do you have a volt ohm meter ? Test the battery an alternator out put ,videos on youtube. If the battery an alternator aren't working correctlly adding extra loads on the charging system could cause this problem . Turning on the heater blower motor on high an the rear defogger on ,will this cause the vehicle to die as well ? Or maybe a shared ground connection is loose or corroded . If the PCM/ECM or ECU - engine computer an the headlamps share a ground point could cause this problem as well .Looking at wiring diagrams an testing the electrical circuits with voltage drop testing is the way to test grounds . Free wiring diagrams here http://www.bbbind.com/free-tsb Enter vehicle info. year , make , model an engine size. Under system click on lighting , then under subsystem click on headlamps . Click the search button ,then the blue link . Watch this video on voltage drop testing an check headlamp ground circuit for resistance , with headlamps on engine off .

You ran a hot wire from were to what on the starter ? Check grounds on the vehicle . Do you know about automotive electrical circuit's ? B+ side an ground side ? The Trainer 47 What measuring voltage on the ground side means You need wiring diagrams to see The Trainer 29 Understanding How Electrical CIrcuits Work and How to Test... You need to study up if you want to fix automotive electrical systems .

If when you turn the key to start an nothing happens , you have ignition switch , park neutral switch problem or an open in the start circuit . An when you jump the starter an get it running ,an then it dies when you step on the brakes or turn on the headlamps . That's more then likely a ground problem . Find a wiring diagram an see what all is on headlamp ground an brake lights . I had one awhile back had same problem , fuel pump an brake lights had same ground point . Do you know what a wiring diagram is , how to read one ? You can find one at http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html

2003 lincoln town car.hit a big pothole and engine shut off.

With this type of electrical problem, as with many...The first thing you look for is a bad ground. Start with negative cable from battery. Follow it down to the frame. Make sure the connections are tight, clean, and undamaged. make sure you have a ground from: Bat to frame, bat to engine, engine to frame.Next, ck your Positive connection at the starter, as well as the solenoid (smaller wire) Take your multimeter and connect to your positive lead...watch for voltage drop while trying to crank.

Post back.....let us know
