1. Disconnect battery.
2.Remove the bolts from the two dogbone motor mounts located at top of motor front of car.
3.Disconnect the upper radiator supports (this provides a little extra tilting room).
4. Use a ratcheting strap to jack/tilt the engine forward. Attach one end to an anchor point toward the rear of the engine and the other to the frame above the radiator.
5. Ratchet/tilt the motor as far as possible.
6. Remove serpentine belt.
7.Tie a rope or tether of some sort to the alternator.
8. Remove bolts from alternator (if i remember correctly there are 3).
9. Using the rope lower the alternator down behind the motor so you can remove it from under the car.

You will the reverse procedure for installing a new one. Other people will suggest removing the windshield wiper transmission or resevoir. But i prefer to remove as few parts as possible. This same "tilting" method you will use to change your spark plugs/wires. So use high quality plugs /wires at least for the 3 rear ones or you will be repeating this headache soon. Trust me.

ON A 2003 ZETEC SE IS THE THERMOSTAT BEHIND ALTERNATER IF SO IS IT EASY TO REMOVE ALTERNATER

I just replaced the T-stat on my 2003 Focus ZX3 last weekend. I'm a novice; it was easy. You shouldn't have to remove anything except the T-stat housing. It's located on the right side of the block, across from the battery. You need a 10 mm wrench to remove the three bolts holding the housing onto the block. Removing the four hoses was the most difficult part. When they're off, the housing unit slides under and out. The T-stat and O-ring cost $20.

Where are the vacuum lines located on a 2003 pontiac aztec

under the hood , under the dash are the most obvious ones.
Open the hood and look around for small black hoses... they will ultimately lead to the intake of the engine (where vacuum is created)

Looking for the thermostat location on a 2001 pontiac aztec

This should be a 3400 SFI engine. the T-stat is in a tricky location. Your top radiator hose is connected to an aluminum pipe. thats the T-stat housing. the T-stat is in there where it connectes to the lower intake there are 1 bolt1 that you need to remove.and the lower on just needs to be lose. the lower hole is sloted. you have to remove the exhaust crossover shield and coolant bypass tube if you have one. its going to be a very tight fit if you leave the crossover pipe on. you can remove it. then its 1 2 3. this is alittle longer than most T-stats i would say about 1.5 hours assuming no studs on your crossover break. just be carefully to apply even pressure when removing those bolts on the exhaust pipe.

Good luck,
michael

Where is the thermostat located on a 2003 pontiac aztec?

grab hold of the upper radiator hose, and follow it back to the engine block. The housing the hose is attatched is where the thermostat is hiding :)

2003 Ponitac Aztec service engine soon light

The PCM is probably storing a B, C, or U code that your code reader doesn't read. Or, it's storing an enhanced P code. If the light goes on, trust me, there's a code stored. You need a professional level scan tool
