1994 LT1 Engine "balks" under acceleration intermittently

Intermittently under moderate heavy to heavy acceleration the engine will start to "balk" and sometimes "buck" a little. Further pressure on the accelerator makes it worse. You can press the accelerator way down but the RPM doesn't change and engine seems to bog down. If you let up and drive it normally you can get by, but any hard acceleration causes the problem again. It seems to develope after driving for about 45 minutes. I can't really say that it is related to engine temp though.
If you drive the whole time like an "old lady", the problem never surfaces.

Your fuel pump or your catalytic is plugged. have it tested with a infrared gun it will tell you if the cat is bad and if it is replace it test the fuel pump for fuel rail pressure it should read 50 psi then hold to 20 psi for 1 minute.. Also check to see if the intake plate is dirty and if it is do a top engine clean, buy GM's top engine cleaner and run it threw the engine, if you have carbon buildup the compression and cause the car to run bad and the knock sensor will not be able to adjust time. I know this sounds silly but these three things will cause your problem and so will a bad fuel filter.

Trying to wire a 1994 lt1 into 1996 chevy s-10

It should be a plug and play if your using the ECM for the 1994 engine. The ECM on the 1996 S10 will no work on the LT1 engine, for one thing the S10 ECM will only command for 6 fuel injectors and will have different injection pulse and so on. The program of the S10 ECM is made for the Vortec as to the LT1 will have different parameter **** as engine running temperature, vacuum readings, and timing.
The most obvious would be the 1994 LT1 runs on a OBDI system and the 1996 is running on a OBDII system. You can still run the 1994 LT1 from a 1994 with a OBDii system ecm, but some of the sensors will need to be upgraded to accommodate for the proper readings the OBDII system will need to have the engine to run right.
If you don't have the right ECM for the LT1, go to the wrecker's and locate one, Caprice, Camero, Firebird ECT.....
Thank you for using fixya and good luck on your project.

Under steady acceleration, engine light goes on

Being a 95 it dosent have OBD2 so it may not store a trouble code in the computer.
From the symptoms it sounds like either, Air flow sensor, O2 sensor
The O2 will not usually cause stalling under acceleration.

Intermittent engine miss

There are to many things that can cause the miss fire and when does it happen?? During acceleration or idle. Here is a link for you to retrive the DTC codes and hope this will add some light to the end of the tunnel. http://www.troublecodes.net/GM
Good luck and keep me posted. Did you try cleaning your MAF which can cause miss fire if your engine is running to lean.

Sounds like you need some new spark plugs and plug wires. They don't work very well at all when Cold, or under moderate to heavy acceleration
