SOURCE: possible bad ignition coil and valve cover gasket

No start on 97 dodge intrepid. I Know that Coil pack is Below Valve cover and Have repaired Numerous Ignition coils due to there becoming Oil soaked , the oil will gather dust dirt and thus Insulating ( Retaining Heat) i and this Causes them to Over heat and Fail , in short Burning them out. I say this Because of your Mention of it as a symptom. you must first Determine if it is getting spark ,have someone Crank Engine over While you are Holding the Spark plug wire 1/4 inch away from coil tower (TERMINAL) do this to all 6 if no spark at any of them ,that coil could be bad (Most Likley), If all Have NO SPARK then it is One of the fallowing,,

  1. Cam Sensor
  2. Crank Sensor
  3. Ignition control module
If Control module is wet with Oil most likely needs replaced some Parts stores can test coil and Modules.

NOW if you have Spark on All 6 Cylinders Check for fuel delivery, Do this at the shrader Valve on the fuel rail,(LOOKS LIKE AIR FILL VALVE ON WHEELS) Simply remove cap turn key on for 5 seconds then turn it OFF Depress the Stem at shrader valve If you get a Good SPRAY of FUEL upon doing this 3-4 times then you have Fuel Pressure !!!!WARNING !!! Test Equipment is Recommended for all Procedures but their certain steps to take if you don't have a DIGITAL VOLT METER or Fuel Pressure tester. I Hope this helps you with your Diagnosis od the problem. Have A Good Day

SOURCE: leaking valve cover gaskets

The problem is over tightening.

If you over tighten your fastners you will sqeeze your gaskets too much and they WILL leak.

You can use black silicon sealant LIGHTLY but you don't really need it. If you have the V6...the torque on them nuts are only 80 in lbs each

SOURCE: I have a 02 dodge stratus and just had the valve

If it was the head gasket then oil could also be burnt. Do you see Black Smoke coming out the tailpipe while reving the engine lighlty or moderately?
If the Oil Pressure sensor( sending switch) is leaking then you would see oil puddles under your car. And grey smoke while drving if it was major. And your oil Pressure reading would be low.

these ususally go bad easy with hard constant Acceleration.

SOURCE: bad oil leak 98 dodge neon it looks like from

There is an opening on the top of your timing cover sealed off with a rubber plug. Remove the plug to gain sightful access to inside your timing. But first I suggest you clean your engine first ot all grease and build up caused by your leak. In diong so, you will have a clearer idea of where the leak is actually coming from. I just rebuilt a 2000 neon, so if you need some info on anything , I have your info.

1989 tercel major oil leak passanger side. how do i change the oil pump gasket? do i need to change timing belt too? N where is the unit located? is it under the cover between the valve cover and oil pan?

The oil pump is located under the black timing cover , however your leak is likely the lower main seal under that cover as well , your oil pump will be on the upper right side , you should replace them both and the timing belt while your there considering the cost of the parts , it is good insurance you wont lose your belt while you still own your car and have to go back in again , it is not hard to do just be patient , also when you loosen off your timing belt tensioner '' to remove the belt ''dont forget to re tension it after you replace it

What is the oil capacity for a 1990 Dodge Dakota LE V6?

The oil capacity should be 4 qts with filter change (approximate). Safely fill with 4 qts and new filter and run the truck for a few minutes. Let set a few minutes and add to fill mark on stick if need be. Hope this will help you.

Too tight.....the the torque for the 4 banger is 72 in lbs

the 6 cylinder is only 80 in lbs.

Any tighter and you start to squeeze the gaskets to where they will leak.
