I Got 2011 S550 and I got a message check center brake light. I checked the brake light the LED comes on but comes out after 20 seconds then flickers then goes out. Then the message on the dash returns check center brake light. How do I replace the LED light and also does anyone know what the fuse number and location might be to check that first. The fuse chart was not in my trunk when I went to look.

Hello. Check relay RMI5 in REM unit located in left side rear of cargo area. As you look at it it's to the right of the central electrical connector 5th from bottom. Matt

SOURCE: brake lights don't come on. checked fuse box,
look up above your brake pedal and you will see the switch.. It will either between the firewall and the pedal arm (switch moves in when you brake).. Or it will be between the pedal arm and the dash (switch moves out when you brake)

This is a problem I have been
seeing more and more of lately. The brake light circuit goes through
the Lamp Outage Module (LOM). When the LOM senses a inoperative lamp,
the Vehicle Information Center (VIC) displays the data to the vehicle
operator.
Here is how to test the system (clic for zoom):
Check here for more details about the location of Lamp Outage Module (page 16).
Hope helps (remember rated this help) Good luck.

Hello. The symptoms you are describing are likely due to a poor ground. Temporarily install a new ground wire by securing a piece of copper wire to the frame with a self tapping screw. Use this ground wire along with the hot wire to see if each of these lights works. If it does, trace the ground wire back to the frame, unscrew it and clean up the metal with emery cloth so you reestablish a good ground.
