Check connection by battery terminals - should be squeaky clean and tight. Ditto for wire(s) to solenoid and starter.

Is the engine cranking? If not check the neutral interlock as already advised. Also check the basics such as battery terminals and earth point or a lazy starter motor. If it is cranking then it could be the crank angle sensor. These are often a source of intermittent starting problems. Could also be a fuel blockage/airlock problem. Cheers

Is your alternator working? You should be getting approx 14 volts DC at the battery with the engine running at about 2x idle. If your battery isn't being charged, you may be able to start the car after the battery has rested(as it is a new battery) after a while it will run out of power and then the engine will fail- this may also cause the gauges to read weird.

2007 impala won't start sometimes

The most likely problem is a failed safety switch in the transmission. It will only allow the engine to turn over when in "neutral", or "Park". Next time it happens try moving the transmission selector through the full range of travel a couple of times. If this cures the problem, you may need new switch.

When you jump started the vehicle, it started as normal and you drove to a shop to have a new battery installed.?? Correct??

1. Who removed the old battery and installed the new one?

2. Did the car start normally immediately after the new battery was fitted? How frequently were you able to drive the car on the new battery before the problem you described appeared?

3. Has anything been done to the vehicle since the new battery was fitted.?
