I have a 92 Lincoln town car, 5.0 driving down the road... My intake hose to my heater core blew.... Noticed speedo quit working...Stopped at a stop sign.... Put park. Fixed hose. Put car in drive... Nothing... No rpm change... No engagement... Nothing... Put it in reverse.. Clunked right in... Rpms decreased..... Everything was normal.... Tried drive again... Nothing... Please help

This could be caused by the transmission range selector switch on the tranny, no sure how without the wiring diagram, but seems to ring a bell from my 20 years at a ford delaer.

Unfortunately it sounds like your automatic transmission has suffered a catastrophic failure. But to be sure, allow your vehicle to warm up to normal operating temprature, pull the oil level dipstick for the transmission and check the level. your reverse bands are bad and you need to take it t the shop to havethe presure test done, takes the queese work out. good luck you might want to look on line for a good used one ps don't forget to vote for me if im any help ty sawdust46

possible it could be in the valve body on the transmission but also could be a cut seal inside...no fix in the tail shaft
