there is a rubber stopper on each side of the front cross frame , screw te passenger side one down until the bonnet fits flat , may have to screw the other up depending on how far out the adjustment was
To Replace bonnet struts on a wk statesman you will need to flow the procedure below.
1.Open the bonnet fully
2.Replace one at a time .
3.Now bonnet is open grab pole and place under bonnet for extra support.
4.The strut will be mount to a ball and on the side you will also see a little rectangular clip .
5.Use a small flat blade screw drive to pop clip out once the clips out you will be able to gently work the strut off the ball on top and bottom.
6.same procedure to fit new strut
try adjusting the rubber bobins either side of the bonnet if not that then unloosen the latch then move it up a little then tighten up and test repeat again untill it locks
In order to get the hood/bonnet to open, you will have to grasp the end of the cable with pliers or better yet, vice grips, and pull the cable. But, you still need to figure out what is causing the problem. Check to see if the cable is broken or has simply come undone at the latch. You can try to find the cable where it comes through the firewall and trace it to the hood latch, looking to see if any clamps have loosened up that would allow the cable to move and get too much slack in it. Found the problem one of the bonnet hinges was beginning to seize up put loads of wd40 on it moved the bonnet up and down to ease the oil in. Then closed the bonnet and pused down on it where the hinge is so that it became level with the wings. I then just loosend the bonnet nuts slightly closed the bonnet and moved it into the best position carefully opend it and did up the nuts if the headlamps are still a bit low open the bonnet and just pull gently on the back of the head lamp and they wil come into place job done it looks great
