My second hand 2004 Mitsubishi Outlander immobiliser fob has stopped working and i can no longer start my engine. I only have one immobiliser fob and one non-remote/buttonless engine key.

I brought a second hand 2004 mitsub. outlander with on immobiliser fob and one plain engine key(No buttons on it/remote). For a while it was taking a couple of attempts before my immobiliser fob would make a successful connection and allow me to start the engine. Now its stopped working altogether and i cant start my car. There is a card included with the manual with a 4 digit code for the security system but there is no blinker on the dash (only the LED to show if the car is running with LPG gas or petrol. i opened the immob. casing hoping it might just be a dead battery but it doesnt even have one, which was shocking to me as i now wonder what powers the actual immobiliser fob????/ Please i VERY MUCH APPRECIATE any help or advice that can be offered.

The immobiliser works with a chip in the fob. This is a signalling device which, via a pick-up situated around the ignition lock, sends the signal to the engine computor which the allows the engine to be started.

SOURCE: 2004 mitsubishi outlander cooling fans not operating

TAKE A PEEK UNDER THE HOOD IN THE FUSE PANEL FOR THE FUSE AND RELAY FOR THE COOLING FAN. IF THE FUSE IS BLOWN THEN REPLACE IT. IF YOU SUSPECT THE RELAY TO BE BAD THEN TEST IT BY SWAPPING THE FAN RELAY WITH ANOTHER ONE WITH THE SAME PINS ON THE BOTTOM. MAKE SURE IT IS THE SAME SIZE AS WELL. HOPE THIS HELPS.. PLEASE KEEP ME POSTED. THANKS FOR AN HONEST RATING AND FOR USING FIX-YA. GOOD LUCK

SOURCE: mitsubishi outlander cooling fans not operating

There is a Recall to replace your cooling fan module because of this concern.

Open your hood and look at the black box bolted to your radiator fan by the battery. If it does not have a green dot on it, you have not had the replacement fan module installed.

Contact your local dealer with your VIN handy to verify the recall has not been done and to schedule an appointment.

If the recall has been done, verify if you have power coming out of the module to the fans, as the fans do burn out eventually.... but rarely both at once.

Dear Brake Drum Remover,
I'm gonna tell you how to pull this drum off, ya ready?First off, get the rear of the vehicle up in the air safely, Then pull the rear tires off. After those are off then take a gander at the face of the drums, are there shiny brass looking screws installed on the face of that drum?Ifso remove those counterclockwise, then, take a hammer a shock the face off the drum firmly about three times. Now, go to the opposite side on the face of the drum and do that again, keep on doin that until you can wiggle the drum off by hand...easy as that, any other questions get back to me. 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport. I have Lost the Fob with the key.

Question edited for clarity.
Question moved to model category.

Unfortunately there is no way to do that. The security system and engine immobilizer is there to stop exactly what you are trying to do, drive the car without the correct credentials. All this is controlled by two computers, a module and various sensors.

The trick is to get a new key when you lost key number 2 and was left with only one key left.

Now you need the dealership or an auto-locksmith. And by the sounds of it, a friend or a taxi. Good luck with your daughter.

When replacing the engine control module of a 2003 Mitsubishi Outlander, do you have to get a matching key and transponder to make the replacement control module work? Thanks

Normally all you have to do is have the car and the key at the one place and with the computer that the dealer, has the key can be reprogrammed to the ECM/immobiliser. The same as if you loose a key ,buy a new one and have it programmed to the existing ECM

No start concern - Mitsubishi Outlander 2004

Check the IAC valve...or sometimes known as an electronic choke. That valve is how your engine gets air when the throttle body plate is closed. If the valve is stuck due to malfunction or carbon build up then it will cause that problem, and give you a rough idle at best.
