You didn't list your engine size so please pick the applicable to your motor size:

Removal & Installation 2.8L & 2.9L Engines To Remove:

  1. Lift the vehicle high enough to gain access to the knock sensor (KS) through the left front wheelhouse.
  2. Remove the left front wheel and wheelhouse liner.
Knock sensor (KS) (A), Engine harness (B), Knock sensor (KS) connector (C)

SOURCE: I need to change ignition switch on my Chevy Colorado

The ignition switch should be located at the lower part of the steering column and is actuated by the key cylinder. It is difficult to replace (made hard for thieves to get at it).

Why is the ignition key not turning to start my 2006 chevy colorado? Also the stering column will not lock when turned. this occurred suddenly after parking the vehicle. I am unable to start the ve

I assume you have kids and that's why you want to lock it and keep it secured either your kids jammed something in that ignition switch and messed something up. So I would take a good flash light and peer down into that key ignition hole and see if anything is blocked in there. if so or a bad ignition switch, you need disconnect the battery and remove the bottom dash plate from the steering wheel and you will have to disconnect the ignition cable from the ignition switch and take out the ignition by unscrewing the securing screws that hold that ignition in, best to get a mechanic book made for that make and model.

Switch odometer from miles to kilometer

If your colorado has a drivers info center you can do it through the dash yourself. It will be in the owners manuel. If it does not have the info center you will need to take it to a dealer and it will take just a few minutes to do with their scan tool. Good Luck
