Disconnecting the battery is never a good idea as it breaks the code paring between the key, the BCM / ECM and Immobilizer Module. Always charge a car battery in the car without removing it. Even a dead battery has enough volts to keep the ECM / BCM programming alive. Have all the keys done at the same time. If you only have one key, have another chip key cut and programmed. You don't mention a second key, and we get so many people here who lose their only key and ask how to bypass and hot-wire. The answer to that is "you can't".

Hello sam adamzz: My name is Roger and I will help you. You can locate the crankshaft position sensor in the transmission bell housing. Standing at the driver side fender. Look at the back af the engine where the transmission and block meet. Just to the right of the block edge mounted in the bell housing you should see a round sensor with a wire lead out of it.
