Peugeot 207 1.6hdi keeps popping out of 5th gear, is it something simple to fix?.

IT SOUNDS LIKE YOUR CUTCH PLATE WHICH IS ULTIMATELY RESPONSIBLE FOR PUTTING THE CAR IN THE PROPER GEAR, SORRY NO QUICK FIX.

It is an internal trans problem,specifically with the 5th gear...gearset.and or synchros or dogs.

Only 2 thing cause this, worn engagement dogs on the gear pack or worn shifter parts or both, how many miles?

Do you mean that the shifter moves normally, and no gear engages, or the shifter won't go into the 5th gear position?
If the shifter won't go there, its probably a mis-adjusted linkage.
If it will go there, but you don't "feel" it go into gear, it could be that the ball and socket linkage rod for 5th gear has popped loose(this is common on higher mileage VWs with worn shifter parts) I recommend an entire shift bushing set be installed and then the proper adjustments can be made... sometimes a nut comes loose behind the end cover on ml5 box.
