Daewoo were bought out and rebadged Chevrolet (over here) to initially provide a second life for ageing Vauxhall designs and technology.
For a time Daewoo was just about the cheapest car to keep on the road but General Motors changed all that and now the stuff is more expensive than many of the spares for the mainline models even though they are still slightly inferior to them in design and build quality.

If you still have trouble in spite of this new information I suggest you search for parts by brake manufacturer, which is usually marked on the body of the brake caliper.

I have a 2000 Passat and going to have my friend replace the rotors and breaks. I am preparing to fix it but want to know what sizes are the bolts for the calipers sliding pins. If you know the Bolt s

For a wrench or for the acctual bolt size.
To remove front pads..you need 8mm allen socket to pull the caliper guide pins, then 17 or 18mm..To remove rear pads...you need 13mm socket for lock bolt on guide pins and 15mm open end wrench (thin section to hold guide pin while you remove lock bolts..I ground down a spare wrench). You DO NOT have to remove rear carriers to change rotors..just remove lock screw and angle rotor out. The B5 Passats don't have the electronic parking brake so you don't need VAG Com to change pads.
Installation tips:
Clean and regrease the guide pins with "synthetic caliper grease"
Rear lock bolts come with preapplied thread locker and "are not to be reused"..I just wire brush the threads and use some Loctite Blue on em. I smear just a little antisieze on the inside bore of the rotors and on the lock screw threads to prevent corrosion and make next rotor change ez. Torques:
Front caliper guide pins:18 ft lb
Front carrier bolts: 89 ft lb
Rear guide pin lock bolts:26 ft lb
Wheel lugs: 89 ft lb

Installing front brake pads

    • Some of the fluid from the master cylinder
    • Wheels
    • 2 caliper guide pin bolts
    • Caliper assembly by swinging the top part of the caliper away from the brake rotor edge, then lift the caliper assembly up
    • Outboard brake pad by prying the brake pad retaining clip over raised area on the caliper. Then slide the pad down and off the caliper.
  1. Before removing the inboard brake pad, use a large C-clamp to press the piston back into the caliper. This will prevent possible damage to the caliper piston. It is good practice to remove some (1/3–1/2) of the brake fluid from the reservoir. This is because as the caliper piston is pushed back into the caliper, brake fluid will be pushed back through the lines, back into the master cylinder and fluid reservoir, possibly causing the reservoir to overflow.
    • Inboard brake pad by pulling away from piston until the retainer clip is free from the cavity in the piston. 0900c152802197b8.jpgRemoval and installation of the disc brake pads
To install:
  1. Lubricate both the caliper mating surface and the machined abutment surfaces with multi-purpose lubricant.
  2. Before brake pad installation, be sure to lightly coat the outer backing plate surface of the new brake pads with a disc brake pad anti-squeal lubricant, usually a gel-like material that deadens any high-frequency vibration that can be the source of disc brake squeal.
  3. Install or connect the following:
    • Brake pads into the caliper assembly making sure both pads are seated securely onto the caliper
    • Caliper assembly back into position over the brake rotor
    • Caliper guide pin bolts and torque to 17 ft. lbs. (23 Nm)
    • Wheels and lug nuts. Torque the lug nuts, in a star pattern sequence, to 100 ft. lbs. (135 Nm).
  4. Top off the master cylinder to the appropriate level, using DOT 3 type brake fluid only.
  5. Before moving the vehicle, pump the brakes until a firm pedal is obtained. Road test the vehicle to make sure the brake operation is normal.

Front brakes stick on

either your calipers are sticking and need replacing. OR the hoses have failed internally. and need replacing.. very rare but possible the master cylinder is not allowing the fluid to return usually caused bu a booster failing and causing some down travel in the master cylinder. I'd start by raising the front end up. appling hard brake pressure. turn the tire.. then loosen the brake bleeder to check for pressure. if the bleeder sprays fluid and the brakes release forget the calipers. if they are still tight then replace the calipers. pump them up again if they released.. and break the line free at the master cylinder. if they don't release then replace the hoses..
