Check your power steering fluid to see if it is low. Also look to see if it looks like the belt is slipping. You may have a power steering pump that is failing.
What does it means when the steering wheel locks up... And I cut the car off and it won'ts start back up & I even tried to jump the battery... Nothing would happen but the inside lights cut on that's it! I have a IS 250 2007
I agree with the other Expert, but the steering wheel lockup is puzzling. Do you mean it did not turn or was hard to turn?
Now if the steering wheel locked in its Parked position, then the Ignition switch had to allow it. It would be consistent with losing the electric feed to the motor and things the other Expert said. Your Ignition switch may have turned itself off. Sometimes too much weight on a keychain is enough.
If the car will start, it may be okay. But the inside of your Ignition may be coming apart or your Keychip is cutting out. You might want to change Ignition switches.
several things, does key go in and out easily, turn steering wheel in both directions while turning key. sometimes the steering wheel lock binds the lock cylinder and turning wheel releases the pressure and it will turn. other than that the ignition cylinder is jammed, wet key lightly with lubricant such as wd-40 and a light bit in key hole and try key again, If key is heavily worn out , try a different ignition key as it might not be disengaging all the tumblers in lock, if all this fails you need a new cylinder.
you might have a bad worm gear ,its a gear for tighting the action of the steering wheel,i would have your tech look at it ,but most cases are to replace steering box.
the steering wheel has a locking devise released by the key when starting, at times the wheel is turned in a way that keeps pressure on the lock that makes turning the key harder, this is the same in most cars, so a little jiggle of the wheel will make turning the key much easier,

Good Luck
Try rotating the steering wheel in both directions while applying rotational force on the key.
I have had this problem on a F150 where the person pulled in their driveway and proceeded to turn the car off but turned the wheel while the powersteering was still on, when the engine stopped the steering wheel rotated and locked from the force of the truck.
