I can get used rear ends for around $300, A garage will charge twice this.. This is the whole unit. New differentials run about $1300+ There are varying prices for differentials. Does it need a bearing kit? Is it a ring gear and pinion. Or is it the spider gears/clutches that need replaced. Differentials go bad in different areas. All are different price. Just because it makes a noise doesn't mean the differential. Could be a bad axle bearing. I just did one, the axle broke. Axle, bearing, and seal was all it needed.
Testimonial: "There is a clucking noise in the rear periodically. .....truck seems to drive fine.....was thinking the clunking noise is differential problems....."
Very expensive, labor and parts probably over 1000 dollars.............probably better to look for a used one in a relatively low mileage wrecked vehicle. don-ohio (:^)
