I suspect your car doesn't have a choke if it is EFI.

I'd suspect a faulty coolant temp sensor unit, which is not telling the ECU that the engine is cold.

Some EFI cars have an extra injector called a cold start injector. If fitted this could be faulty.

In both the above cases there may be an ECU trouble code you can read out. In the US Autozone will do this for you.

In the old days the classic cause of hard starting was always faulty engine timing. If your car has a timing belt and it is worn, it may have jumped a tooth or 2., but this is uncommon.

Hard start when it is cold

Cold weather it hard to start for 2 reasons. Cold makes the oil thickens & it also slows the chemical reaction in the battery,----------------------------------------------------------------------

My 1998 oldsmobile silhouette sometimes just cuts off sitting in traffic, any ideas/solutions???

Here are 3 very common causes for an engine stalling.

1. Old air filter, ( if it's old it restricts the engine from getting vital air.)

2. Oxygen sensor, ( if this part is bad the computer is unable to determine the proper fuel/air mix ratio and often leads to stalling.)

3. MAF, ( mass airflow ), sensor. Similarly can cause bad fuel/air mix ratio, and often leads to stalling. This can also reach a point of causing your engine not to start, particularly in cold weather.

I hope this helps you.

BMW 325, hard to start in hot weather.

before you try to start her again in hot weather, open your fuel filler cap, listen for any pressure release, close the cap, and try to start, if this works, then its just heat expansion in the fuel tank, replace the filler cap if this is the case

1998 Oldsmobile Silhouette a/c blows cold in rear but the front vents blow hot air. A new condensor was just installed and a/c charged.

Hello.Maybe I can steer you in the right direction. There is an actuator temp, door motor. It may be hard to find, but most of them are on the bottom of the blower box about where the ac hoses and the heater core is,under dash. This motor has gone out,it switches from cold to hot ,and all in between .Hope this is helpful. If not let me [email protected]

Where is the oil pressure sending unit on the 1998 olds silhouett

Just above and slightly to the left of the rear end of the starter motor on the front side of the engine. Best to work on this with the engine cold as the front exhaust manifold is just above it
