2003 Ram 1500.Just had throttle body cleaned. Occasionlly when I stop after sitting for a few moments the accelarator will race up and down about 400 rpm and then will steady out Sometimes will completely...

The idle air control valve may need to be replaced. Usually they don't throw an engine trouble code.

2500 HD chevrolet low idle problem

Engine stalling and rough run issue at low speeds

This problem is commonly caused by a dirty automatic idle speed control valve and throttle valve. Buy a can of throttle valve cleaner (do not use carburetor spray cleaner!) from NAPA or Carquest (made by CRC chemicals) and spray it into the air intake while the engine is running, use up about 1/2 the can, engine will try to stall hold the speed up, shut it down and let it soak for 30 minutes, restart and blow out the remaining fluid, shut it down and disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 Min's to reset the base idle control

Engine knock hard over 2500 rpm

Does the oil light come on or the knock occur during the engine warm up after a cold start?
There could be a couple of problems causing the issue. You could have an oil pressure pump or pump pressure regulator sticking. I would have a mechanical oil pressure gauge installed and verify oil pressure at idle and 2500 rpms to make sure oil pressure is in normal ranges.
You could also have excessive piston rod bearing, crankshaft bearing or cam shaft bearing wear that will cause oil pressure to drop too low to prevent the rod knock your hearing at 2500 rpm.
You said a knock and not a ticking noise,so I don't believe a lifter is the issue at 2500 rpm.
Start with the oil pressure check and go from there.

With out see it running on a scanner. Maybe the IAC or throttle body. Does it have any codes. Did you erase codes after rebuild? Any time I do a rebuild on engines and transmission, the codes have to to erased. Other wise you are trying to run a new part on old PCM codes. Codes have to be erased.

Already replace throttle body! Have not taken to echanic for computer reset however, we did take out the pcm and disconnected the battery! It does not throw any codes either!

Did you replace the computer? Is it a drive by wire/electronic throttle. Can you drive it with the throttle open, Giving it gas? Electronic throttles have a learn process, with a rebuild it also has a crank learn process. If you replaced the computer it has security( does the light stay on or blink fast). It starts up so ignition isn't the problem. But it could be fuel, check fuel pressure. One other thing is, are all the grounds connected.

Did not replace computer! Would that throw a code? Can't drive it at all, it stalls out when foot not on gas pedal! No lights are on throwing codes at all! All grounds have been checked and rechecked! How do we get the learn process complete if she won't drive down the road?

When you start it, does it only run about 2 seconds? if so look to security. Dodges can be reset by locking all doors and the hood. Use the key FOB to open or open the drivers side door with the key. When it does run, does run smooth or rough/stumble? Might want to check fuel pressure. When I do rebuilds, I double and triple check certain areas. Especially timing.

New timing chain going on today! Looking for a pressure gauge too! Runs rough at idle, when she will idle! Foot on the pedal seems to run smoother!
