Most carburated engines you don't pump the gas pedal, you slowly press it all the way to the floor one time and release it, then you attempt to start it. The problem that you are describing is an indication that the carburetor needs to be rebuilt. The choke plate has a latching mechanism that is connected to a heater coil, if there is excess wear on the parts or the heater is bad, it has to be replaced

1984. Why does it run fine during cold weather and sputter when it is warm and I punch the gas pedal?

could be low float level, low pump pressure/supply
blocked fuel filter
when cold the engine is running on choke setting which draws more fuel from the carby
when it is warm the choke is off and if you have a flat spot ( (sputter) , that indicates a lack of fuel or maybe a bad accelerator pump or power valve
if the carby is a holley then replace the power valve and overhaul the accelerator pump.

Carburator and idle problem

Believe it or not you just said the solution to your own problem manufacturers specs requires for any adjustments to engine idle or other carburator adjustments to be preformed while the engine is idling and at normal operating temp in plain english let the car warm up then make your idle and mixture adjustments if this doesnt solve it i would check the auto choke and make sure it is opening at normal operating temp hope this helps good luck

85 HONDA ACCORD WONT STAY RUNNING UNLESS PUMPING GAS NOT EVEN FULL THROTLE

You have a single fuel injector in it right. Try right at the end of the gas pedal cable at the engine there is an electrical plug and a little device that goes around in a circle when the gas is mashed. That is the throttle position sensor. Try unplugging that and if there is no difference in the revving then the throttle position sensor is out. If that is not the problem, then plug your engine into a an onboard diagnostic reader. 85 is an obd1.

Why do I need to pump the gas pedal to get the 83 prelude started

Choke is not functioning. Take air filter off and try using some choke cleaner on all the components.

Car wont stay running, think its carb problem

If I understand correctly the car will idle but will not drive unless you pump the gas. If that's the case then you need to have it overhauled. There are blocked lines inside that are preventing it from working properly. Hope this helps.
